Manor Wood Children's Centre

Manor Wood Children's Centre Manor Wood Children's Centre provides high quality childcare and support for families with young children 0-5 years.

Each of our individually designed areas allows children to explore and discover, so they may follow their interests and extend their understanding, skills and knowledge. Children are given the freedom to explore the nursery at their own pace. Focused learning opportunities are planned on a daily basis, and resources are available to children at all times, allowing them to revisit, extend or adapt their interests and learning as they wish.

Our children went on a flower walk where they carefully spotted a beautiful blossom tree. They looked closely at the delicate pink petals and collected a few fallen blossoms to take back with them. Using black pens and pink paint sticks, the children created detailed marks and drawings, exploring the shapes, colours and patterns they had observed. This experience supported their observation skills, creativity and appreciation of the natural environment.

Out two-year-olds explored the blossom tree closely using magnifying glasses, noticing the tiny petals, soft colours and delicate shapes. Inspired by what they observed, the children used pink soft playdough, carefully shaping and pressing the dough as they reflected on the details they had seen on the blossom petals. This experience supported curiosity, fine motor development and observational skills through hands-on exploration.
