Regimental Sports Day 2026 ⚽️: Last month Leeds UOTC competed against the other companies of the Yorkshire Officers’ Training Regiment at the regimental sports day.

Leeds finished overall in first place with teams competing in football, hockey, rugby, netball, tug of war and cross country.

The event helped select the regimental team for this weekends, Queens Challenge Cup, against teams from across UOTC Group, held at the home of Army Officer training The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Best of luck to the YOTR team!

Last month, Senior Under Officers from Leeds and Sheffield represented the regiment as part of a UK Defence Delegation, attending the International Forum on Peace, Security, and Prosperity in Palermo, Sicily.

The theme of the conference this year was ‘Creating Adaptive Forces: Building Military Resilience in a Changing International Landscape’, it offered the opportunity to hear from academics from countries such as Canada, South Korea, the United States, and Switzerland on building resilient military teams, adaptive leadership, and resilient societies.

Weekend 5 🇬🇧: OBUA, last weekend Leeds UOTC deployed on exercise with the wider Yorkshire Officers’ Training Regiment.

The weekend saw Officer Cadets operating in the challenging urban environment, developing their military and leadership skills.

The weekend culminated in a demanding urban patrol competition, against platoons from the other company’s of YOTR. The competition was won by Leeds, who were awarded CO coins on parade by the Commanding Officer.

Weekend 4 🇬🇧: Last weekend Leeds UOTC along with the wider Yorkshire Officers Training Regiment deployed on our fourth training weekend of the year.

The weekend saw all training divisions organised into platoons in the field, with second years in section command level appointments and third years in platoon level appointments. For the first years this was their first time exercising in sections, and executing attacks alongside the rest of the regiment.

Ex Dalesman Descent: Last month the Yorkshire Officers’ Training Regiment undertook Ski adventure training in Les Deux Alpes in France 🇫🇷.

The exercise saw members from across the regiment learning and developing their Skiing abilities and taking a welcome break from the normal training schedule.

Weekend 3 🇬🇧: Last weekend Officer Cadets from Leeds UOTC joined with the wider Yorkshire Officers Training Regiment on the third field weekend of the training year.

Third year OCdts deployed on exercise at Altcar Training Camp, developing their platoon level leadership, in preparation for future weekends, they also developed their understanding of the use of technology, such as drones, in increasing the army’s capabilities.

Second year OCdts where at Warcop Training Camp, developing them as Section Commanders and Section 2iCs, taking part in demanding section attack lanes. They also had a number of lectures furthering their progression in the AULDP Training Syllabus.

First year OCdts, having now fully joined the unit and passing their entry fitness test (RFT E) deployed on their first field weekend. They were introduced to the basics of operating, fighting and living in the field.

Weekend 2 🇬🇧: Last weekend was the second training weekend of the training year.

Year 2 Officer Cadets deployed to Leconfield Training Area, and began training on how to take command and lead in field appointments. withstanding unforgiving weather conditions Officer Cadets lead numerous section attacks putting into practice the theory and training received at barracks and improved their ability to administer a section in the field.

Year 3 Officer Cadets were at Altcar Camp, and developed their live fire marksmanship on the SA80 Weapons System, Leadership development lessons, Technical training on the Bowman Radio systems, as well as Physical Training including an obstacle course.

Year 1 Officer Cadets remained at barracks and continued their weapons handling training as well as being issued with their kit, ready to begin training in tactical exercises in the new year.

Over the past few days Leeds UOTC has come together with the wider armed forces community and nation in observing the national acts of remembrance.

On Tuesday 11th, the Officer Commanding and Senior Under Officer attended a commemoration at the University of Leeds War Memorial, remembering the members of the Leeds University Officer Training Corps who paid the ultimate sacrifice when called to by their country during World War 1 and World War 2.

Earlier in the week, on Sunday a contingent from the unit took part in the Remembrance Sunday parade and service at the Leeds Cenotaph.

Weekend 1: Last weekend Officer Cadets from Leeds UOTC had their first training weekend of the academic year.

Year 1 Officer Cadets Continued with their introduction to the unit and received their first lessons in weapons handling, in preparation for them undertaking the first year of the AULDP training syllabus.

Year 2 Officer Cadets underwent further navigation training building on what they learnt in Year 1 and received their first lessons on orders and section level command training.

Year 3 Officer Cadets travelled to Warcop Training Camp, and underwent simulated range training to refresh their marksmanship skills in preparation for live firing later in the year, as well as undertaking further Leadership, Navigation and Physical training.
