We are set up early for Carnival! We are here until 6pm - the parade starts 2pm and takes 2-3 hours to work back round into Potternewton Park. We are on the left of the park, at bottom of the hill where 3 paths meet. See you later!

Lovely morning with Fabian Hamilton speaking to residents and businesses in Oakwood. Great turnout from Leeds North East Labour Party members. It was nice to hear people share their optimism about Andy Burnham becoming Prime Minister.

We also took the opportunity to grab some lovely fresh food at Oakwood Farmers' Market. Thanks to Roundhay Environmental Action Project (REAP) for organising this wonderful community enterprise.

😎 🍕 Fabian Hamilton, our local MP, joined us this weekend as our volunteers listened to residents in Meanwood and the Beckhills, followed by pizza at Culto.

Great to hear community support for organisations like Stainbeck United Reformed Church, Interact Church and Community Partnership, Carr Manor Community School and we were able to help deal with a local flytipping issue.

It was a privelege to join people of all faiths and communities and colleagues from across the region yesterday at Leeds Gurudwara for special prayers and remembrance of Henry Novak .
Thank you to The Sikh community for their warm welcome and delicious lunch .

Parents in North East Leeds want to keep their children safe and happy, but the online world has made that harder than ever.
Our local MP Fabian Hamilton launched a community survey in January, in which he heard from hundreds local families crying out for change.

The views of parents and families were clear:

- 88% of respondents were in favour of a social media ban for under 16s.
- 86% of respondents were in favour of statutory ban on smartphones in schools.
- 95% of North East Leeds Headteachers who responded were in favour of both measures.

We're pleased that the government has acted in line with their wishes and will ban social media for under 16s, putting wider protections in place to give kids their childhood back.

The measures also ensure that so-called AI ‘romantic companion’ chatbots – designed to simulate sexual relationships or roleplay with users – will have to enforce a minimum age of 18. Similar intimate functionalities will be restricted for under-18s on AI chatbots more widely.

Tech giants had their chance and failed. Labour is stepping in to protect children, back parents and set a new normal for future generations.
