BITMO is arranging free food and activities for Belle Isle families for the summer. We know a lot of people are suffering with the cost of living and families in particular may struggle to feed and pay for activities for their children.

There will be free meals and activities for BITMO tenants and families every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 26 July to 2 September.

Tuesdays - games and crafts from 2pm. Hot meals served 3-5pm.

Wednesdays - picnic bags to eat in or take away from 12-2pm. Activities outside the BITMO offices and around the estate.

Fridays - breakfast club plus! Full English, cereal toast and jam from 9.30am - 12pm plus crafts and games. Full details of Wednesday activities see Events on our page.

Today is National Lollipop Day. The colourful treats are really appealing to our children and may seem harmless but they’re a serious choking hazard.

The hard sweet can come off the stick and block a child’s airway. This happens silently and if you’re not watching you might not even notice.

Please think twice before giving them to a younger child.

This weekend is going to be HOT, HOT, HOT! And lots of us will be trying to beat the heat by going for a swim. Just remember to take care around water.

It’s scary to think about but drowning doesn’t happen like it does in the movies. A drowning child doesn’t splash about or cry for help. They slip quietly under the water, often unnoticed.

Even older children who can swim can still get into difficulties.
