Stone Edge North Ltd have found more exciting things whilst working on the loggia. 🤩

This Bounty wrapper, dating from the 1950s-60s, once held 'two delicious bars' of 'tender coconut in milk chocolate' and was sold for just 8d. It even came with a customer promise: if the bar wasn’t in perfect condition, you could return it to Mars in Slough for a replacement.

Proof that some debates never get buried… especially when it comes to Bounty 🥥

Ever wondered what was on the menu when Leeds Town Hall first opened? 🍴

This Victorian ledger from local confectioner Godfrey Wood, now in Leeds Libraries' special collections, lists all the fancy functions which he catered for and their menus, including our royal inauguration banquet on Tuesday 7 September 1858, attended by 274 guests.

Highlights include 20 lobsters, five game pies, a fruit platter, stewed eel, and two boar heads. Hungry anyone?

Spot the difference! 👀

Another lovely view of Leeds Town Hall, this time from Park Square. Both images show a north‑east view towards the clock tower, visible above the trees. Behind them sits Park Square North.

The historic image is a postcard courtesy of Leeds Museum Services from the 1950s titled “Park Square Gardens, Leeds 158”, shown alongside the same view today.

What changes can you spot, and what's stayed the same?

Our new lift is currently being installed, designed and fitted by UK‑based Knowsley Lift Services and Greece‑based Doppler Lifts.

It’s a 21‑person lift, measuring around 2.5m x 3m - and yes, it’s salmon pink. How cool is that? 😍

Today we’re celebrating , and one of Leeds Town Hall’s greatest musical treasures.

Our magnificent organ has been at the heart of Leeds Town Hall for many years, filling the hall with music heard by thousands of people, from concert-goers and civic events to first‑time listeners experiencing its power for the very first time.

It’s currently undergoing a major refurbishment that’s bringing together the leaders of organ building, with the aim of creating one of the finest concert organs in Europe once complete.

You can support the project by adopting an organ pipe and have your own little piece of Town Hall history. ✨

As Leeds celebrates , we’re looking at how one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks first took shape.

These incredibly detailed original 19th‑century drawings by architect Cuthbert Brodrick reveal his early vision for Leeds Town Hall. They cover nearly every part of the building, from floor plans and elevations to roof designs and heritage features, and are really special to see.

The drawings are being taken good care of by West Yorkshire Archive Service 😌

As our refurbishment continues, Stone Edge North Ltd uncovered something really special whilst working on the stone flags in the loggia... these small fragments of a Leeds City Tram ticket. 🎟

You can still make out some of the stops including City Square, Hollis Street, Thwaite Gate and what looks to be the edge of the Corn Exchange. Another exciting discovery as part of our series! 🤩
