The talented team from Powderhall Bronze were on site last week, templating for the bronze reveals around the lower ground floor entrance.

With approximately 730kg of bronze being used in this area, it's another example of the incredible craftsmanship that’s going into the Leeds Town Hall refurbishment.

The templates will now be taken back to Powderhall Bronze's workshop in Edinburgh, where they'll be scanned and transformed into 6mm-thick bronze panels.

Keep an eye out for more photos of the process coming soon ✨👀

Another find from our refurbishment, this Leeds International Concert Season brochure from 1984/85 lists the season of free lunchtime concerts at the Town Hall and Leeds Art Gallery.

Inside are all the details for each concert, along with handwritten markings by the late Dr Simon Lindley, the much-loved former Leeds City Organist.

🎵 More than 40 years later, free weekly music is still an important part of Leeds' music scene, and the 2026/27 season of Leeds International Concert Season's lunchtime concerts will recommence in the autumn.

Today marks 400 years since Leeds received its Royal Charter by King Charles I in 1626 🥳

Step back in time and explore moments from Leeds' past, with Leeds Town Hall as a backdrop to celebrations, milestones and everyday life.

Over the years, the Town Hall has welcomed royal visits, hosted concerts, civic ceremonies and international sporting celebrations, and has served as the backdrop to countless moments in the lives of the people of Leeds.

As Leeds celebrates this milestone, we're reflecting on the past and celebrating the city we are today.

During a recent visit to see our friends Leeds Libraries, we were told stories about former colleagues using the tunnels between Leeds Town Hall and Leeds Central Library as book storage whilst improvement works were underway in the library. This photo on the wall in the library was taken around that time, although sadly it's not in the tunnels.

Legend has it there's a tunnel between the Town Hall and The Victoria and Commercial too...

Stone Edge North Ltd have found more old public transport tickets whilst working on the loggia. These tickets are in much better condition than the fragments found previously and show clearer details, including familiar Leeds stops such as Briggate, University Road, The Markets, and Burmantofts Street. On the back are adverts including Bovril, Littlewoods, Richard Fashions, and Boyd's City Malt.

More great finds to add to our growing collection! 🤩
