✏️ Something new to explore at Jessie’s Childcare! 🖍️

We’ve recently added a chalkboard easel to our playroom, and it has already become a firm favourite with the children! 💕

From making marks and drawing pictures to practising early writing, numbers and shapes, the possibilities are endless. Watching their confidence grow as they explore and express themselves has been wonderful.

Chalk play is fantastic for supporting:

✍️ Early mark making and pre-writing
🎨 Creativity and imagination
🔢 Number and shape recognition
💭 Problem-solving and independent thinking
🤝 Turn taking and communication

🌧️ Rainy days don’t stop the fun at Jessie’s Childcare! 🎨🖌️

Yesterday’s forecast wasn’t looking too promising with dark skies and on-and-off speckles of rain, so we changed our plans and headed to the craft shop instead!

The children each chose their own canvas painting, and once we were back at the setting they couldn’t wait to get started. It was lovely to see them making their own choices, exploring colours and expressing their creativity.

Activities like this help to develop:

😊 Confidence, concentration and independence

🐾 A Real-Life Learning Adventure at the Vets! 🩺💙

Today, one of our little ones joined me and my dog for his annual vet check-up. Real-life experiences like these are such valuable learning opportunities, especially for children with autism, helping to build confidence, understanding and independence in a calm, supportive environment.

During our visit we explored:
🐶 How to care for animals with kindness and respect.
🩺 What happens during a visit to the vets.
🗣️ Communication by talking about what we could see and hear.
⏳ Waiting patiently and following routines in a new environment.
🐾 Taking turns and helping to hold the lead safely (with adult support).
💙 Building confidence in an unfamiliar place.

At Jessie’s Childcare we love taking learning beyond the playroom. Everyday experiences help children make meaningful connections, develop life skills and grow in confidence through hands-on learning.

Every outing is an opportunity to learn, explore and thrive. 🌈🐾💚

🏖️ A Day at the Pop-Up Beach! ☀️🪣

Last Friday we had the best time visiting our local pop-up beach at the shopping centre! 🌊

The children loved digging in the sand, building castles, filling buckets, relaxing in the giant deckchairs and making wonderful memories together. Days like these provide so many valuable learning opportunities through play, imagination and exploration.

Outdoor experiences like this help to develop:
