🍂🎃 Sunday night = homemade autumn sensory playdough! 🍁🍎

While everyone else is winding down for Sunday evening, we’re busy getting our resources ready for another exciting week at Jessie’s Childcare! 🧡

Tonight we’ve been making our very own autumn-inspired sensory playdough in some gorgeous seasonal colours, ready for our little ones to explore this week! 👐🍂

We’ve added some beautiful autumn scents, including:
🍎 Apple Pie
🎃 Pumpkin Pie
🤎 Cinnamon
🍁 Autumn Essence

My kitchen currently smells absolutely AMAZING, and I can’t wait for the playroom to smell just as lovely when our little guys get stuck in! 😍

There’s so much learning packed into a simple bit of playdough! Our little ones will be developing their fine motor skills, strengthening those little hands, exploring their senses, using their imaginations and getting creative through open-ended play. 🧠✨

We can’t wait to see what they create, squish, roll, mould and explore this week! Although I have a feeling it might end up everywhere! 😂🍂

🧼🦠 BUG SEASON IS OFFICIALLY UPON US! 🦠🧼

As we’re now officially heading into bug and illness season, we’ve spent Friday night and ALL day Saturday giving the whole cabin a deep clean!
Now, don’t get us wrong, we’re always cleaning and keeping on top of things, but as you can imagine, with lots of little people playing, exploring, eating and generally making a mess 😂, things can get pretty grubby!
So we’ve gone from floor to ceiling and everywhere in between and scrubbed the cabin within an inch of its life!
All our nap beds have been stripped, washed, cleaned and then cleaned AGAIN with our Shark carpet and upholstery cleaner, before being steam cleaned too… because apparently one clean just wasn’t enough! 😂
All the carpets have had a deep clean with the carpet cleaner AND a steam clean afterwards.
Every nook, cranny, surface and little corner has had some serious attention!
And of course, Lisa’s obsession with Shark cleaning products has finally come in handy! I think she’d happily steam clean the whole world if you gave her long enough!
We know we can’t stop every little bug from finding its way into our setting, but we’re certainly going to do everything we can to keep those pesky germs at bay for as long as possible!
Now, let’s hope all that scrubbing pays off and we can keep our little ones happy, healthy and playing for as long as possible!

🧽🧸 Saturday morning play kitchen reset! 🍳🥕💛

We’ve spent our Saturday morning giving our play kitchen a deep clean, having a good sort out and restocking everything with all our lovely new play food and equipment from Aldi’s wooden toy event! 🛒😍

Everything is all clean, organised and ready for a week full of little chefs, busy cafés, delicious imaginary dinners and lots of imaginative play! 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳

We can’t wait to see what our little ones get up to next week… although we’re fully expecting all our hard work to be undone within approximately 5 minutes! 😂🙈

But that’s what it’s all about — exploring, creating, learning and having fun! ❤️

We sent Lisa into the Aldi wooden toy event and honestly… she battled the carnage and came back absolutely BEAMING! 😂🙌

🍎🍫 Would it really be autumn without chocolate apples?! 🍫🍎

Today we got stuck into a lovely autumn chocolate apple activity! The children chose their own apples, dipped them in chocolate and then got creative with colourful sprinkles to make their very own delicious creations. 😋

-It was a fantastic hands-on activity with lots of opportunities for learning through play, including:

🍎 Developing fine motor skills
🗣️ Talking about ingredients and following instructions
🎨 Encouraging creativity and making choices
🔢 Counting, colours, shapes and sizes
🌱 Learning about apples and where our food comes from
💛 Building confidence, independence and a sense of achievement

And we made sure one of our little ones with allergies could join in too, making a special milk- and soy-free chocolate apple especially for them. ❤️

🍂🌰 CONKER BRACLETS! 🌰🍂

Today we brought some of the conkers we have collected on our autumn walks into our setting and turned them into something creative! 🍁

The children used a wooden clamp to securely hold the conkers and, with close adult supervision, used a hand drill to carefully make a hole in each one. They then used colourful pipe cleaners to thread the conkers together and create their very own conker bracelets. 🌈

This activity was a fantastic opportunity to develop:

🤏 Fine motor skills – strengthening little hands and fingers through gripping, drilling and threading.
👀 Hand-eye coordination – carefully controlling movements and working with tools.
🧠 Concentration & focus – following instructions and completing each step.
🍂 Understanding the world – exploring natural materials we had collected and talking about conkers and the changing seasons.
🎨 Creativity – choosing their own colours and creating something unique.
⭐ Confidence & independence – trying something new and feeling proud of what they had made.

We love taking something as simple as a conker collected on a walk and turning it into a fun, meaningful learning experience! ❤️

🌱🍅 A HARVEST FROM OUR LITTLE ALLOTMENT! 🥕🎃🌽

Just look at what we’ve grown! 😍🌱

There’s something so special about watching the children plant tiny seeds and seedlings, care for them, watch them grow… and then finally get to pick and take home the fruits (and vegetables!) of their hard work. 🥰

Today’s harvest is looking pretty amazing! 🍅🥒🫑🎃

🍅 Tomatoes – including lots of our little cherry tomatoes
🥒 Cucumbers
🫑 Peppers
🌈 Rainbow chard
🌽 Sweetcorn
🎃 A beautiful pumpkin
🌿 And lots of other bits and pieces we’ve grown ourselves!

Our allotment is such an important part of our childcare setting. It gives the children the opportunity to get outdoors, get their hands dirty, learn where food comes from and understand the whole process from seed → plant → harvest → plate. 🌱➡️🥕➡️🍽️

We love encouraging children to try foods they’ve helped grow themselves, and there’s definitely something about picking your own vegetables that makes them taste even better! 😋❤️

I’m so proud of our little growers and everything we’re producing at our plot. 🥰🌻

🍂🌿 OUR DISCOVER AUTUMN TRAY 🌿🍂

This week at Jessie’s Childcare we’re embracing all things AUTUMN! 🍁🎃🍂

We’ve created a beautiful Discover Autumn Tray for our little ones to explore, investigate and enjoy throughout the week. ❤️

Our tray is filled with lots of the autumn treasures we collected together on our adventures last week — conkers, pinecones, sticks, leaves, acorns and lots of other little woodland treasures! 🌰🍁🌿

The children can use the tray for open-ended exploration and investigation, using their senses to touch, look closely, compare, sort and talk about the wonderful changes we see happening around us during autumn. 🍂🔎

We’ll be encouraging lots of lovely conversations too:
🍁 What colours can we see?
🌰 Which treasures are smooth or bumpy?
🌿 Which ones are big or small?
👀 What can we spot?
🍂 Where did we find them?
🎃 What happens to the trees and leaves in autumn?

We love bringing real-life nature into our setting and giving our little ones the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences. ❤️

🌿 Morning Adventures at the Park 🌿

What a lovely way to start our morning! 💚

We were so lucky to have the park all to ourselves today, which meant lots of space for running, climbing, exploring and letting our imaginations run wild. 🛝🌳

There’s nothing better than fresh air, outdoor play and watching little ones build confidence, friendships and big smiles through play. These quiet moments at the park are always some of our favourites. ☁️💕

Outdoor play is such an important part of our day at Jessie’s Childcare – helping children learn, explore and have fun whatever the weather! 🌈
