West Yorkshire Police are considering scrapping their off-road bike team and this has prompted a public outcry.

This team is used across the city to tackle anti-social behaviour, illegal e-bikes and other crime such as drug-dealing - because they can get places quickly that other police teams would find harder.

WYP have said they would invest the saved money into neighbourhood police teams, but as Cllr Stewart Golton says, this “feels a bit like robbing Peter to pay Paul”.

More than 1,000 people sign a petition to stop police from scrapping a dedicated off-road bike team.

Today marks 400 years - 13th July 1626 - since Leeds received a Royal Charter from King Charles I. 🤴

This moment marked the beginning of Leeds’ journey towards self-governance and city status.

Today (and we might be a bit biased) we have the best city in the country. A thriving cultural scene, world-recognised universities, excellent food, drink, nightlife, shopping and world-class sports teams. ⚽️🏈🏐🏏🚴‍♂️

And of course we have the friendliest, most welcoming, inclusive, diverse people.

We all ❤️ Leeds!

Electricity from solar or wind is now much cheaper than gas. But people aren’t seeing the benefit of cheap renewable power.
