"Across Waitrose and John Lewis, our hiring managers are encouraged to be as flexible as possible. This is to help find the best candidates for the job and meet the needs of candidates and the business when it comes to when, where and how they work.
In all job adverts we actively encourage candidates to discuss their flexible working requirements during the interview process and hiring managers will do all they can to accommodate their needs. This means that, where possible, we'll offer hours that work for those with child care commitments.
There are lots of parents with school age children working at every level in our business. We know the valuable contribution they make - especially when we're able to give them flexibility.
We also support working parents through our internal 'Working Parents Network' run by Partners for Partners. This network aims to support working parents at every stage of their parenting journey and to influence the Partnership on how it offers support to working parents. This is done through offering informal buddying and professional coaching opportunities and inspiring Partners to find a work-life balance that supports their wellbeing whilst meeting the needs of the Partnership. It also aims to provide insight to our managers to help them effectively support working parents.
The Partnership understands that offering true flexible working can help to make sure we meet both the needs of the Partnership and provides a work-life balance for our Partners. This supports us to achieve our ultimate purpose – Working in Partnership for a happier world. Flexible working has become, quite rightly, a priority for both Partners and job seekers. A flexible workplace leads to positive mindsets and positive ideas, which is why at the Partnership, we strive to be as flexible as possible."
