If the police can’t and the council won’t, and DMU/clubs ignore their responsibilities, then is there any hope left for local residents…

…let’s see!!!

Parking issue at Beaumont Football Club:

Today we met with the Community Officer who’s liaising on the parking issue at Beaumont Football Club. Once again we made it categorically clear that it is for the Council to enforce and DMU to fulfil their lease obligations which states that their operations at the club will not be detriment to the local residents. Illegal and inconsiderate parking chaos caused by their patrons is therefore solely their responsibility to resolve. If the club that hires these pitches from them is unable to tackle this then DMU must reconsider letting them use these facilities. Time for ping-pong of excuses is up. We want resolution once and for all.

We also request the Police and Parking Enforcement teams to be on site on football days and take firm action against those responsible for causing parking problem.

Residents came together and walked up to Beaumont Football Club and shared their utter disappointment and frustration to say the least on why no action has been taken by the club and DMU on the inconsiderate and illegal parking issues around the area caused by their patrons. The solution was agreed at a public meeting more than a month ago. The club has now given reassurance to urgently look into this and will revert. Hope they’ll implement it now.

Just an update from today’s patch walk on Beaumont Leys Lane-

1. Reviewed the stretch of the road for dangerous bollards and agreed with the officers that the bollards should be removed and the cycle lane be painted in a different colour which they normally use elsewhere. This way it will benefit both the road users and the cyclists.

2. Butterwick Drive, Calver Hay Road and some other roads are in bad shape and their repair and resurfacing will be done. The current timelines are for June subject to the availability of raw materials due ongoing conflict in Middle East.

3. The overgrown shrubs and leaning tree branches on the two roundabouts at each end of Krefeld Way to be cleared.

4. Untaxed vehicle at the corner of Halifax Drive and Beaumont Leys Lane junction reported.

5. Other smaller issues re rubbish/litter/fly tipping have been reported separately.

Thank you all those who attended and sincere thanks to the council officers.

We have a patch walk with the Highways officers tomorrow 23rd April at 10:30 am meeting at the top end of Beaumont Leys Lane/Butterwick Drive junction to review the pop up cycle lane bollards. We have been requesting the council to reconsider them as they are dangerous and accident hazard.

If you wish to join us then please meet us there. Thank you.

Wonderful visit to Gorse Hill City Farm. Thanks to Dave and Dave for showing us around. A lovely place with calm and serene surroundings one must certainly visit. Animals are really well looked after - thanks to many volunteers.

We are delighted to support them with ward community fund to procure hay and animal feed when things went difficult for them. They still need support, especially from the council.
