Roller Shutter Installation Engineer


we are a successful fire curtain company looking to expand our installations team, we are looking for a candidate to undertake the role of an installations engineer who has good attitude and a drive to learn new things. also flexible with working hours. most of our scope of works are situated in London so travelling up and down the country will be a daily task.



Skills



· Roller Shutter Installation experience



· To have good organisational and communication skills for both working with customers, other workers at the location and Smoke and Fire Curtains employees.



· To have a good knowledge of Health and Safety and Fire Regulations that is needed on particular sites.



· It is essential for this role to have a valid CSCS card to enable you to work on sites.



· To have good driving skills with a full clean driver’s license.



· Have the ability to complete tasks neatly to clear deadlines, and able to use initiative to solve problems.



· A high level of knowledge of technical ability with a good understanding of the fire curtains supplied by Smoke and Fire Curtains Ltd.



an understanding on how roller shutters work would be a good skill but is not essential as full training will be given.



Job Description



· To have knowledge of the appropriate health and safety regulations and wear the correct PPE when required.



· Undertake training and/or further education as and when deemed necessary by management.



· Submit time sheets, mileage records, weekly vehicle checks and other periodic reports on time.



· To safely, efficiently and to a high quality install the required fire curtain into the correct position.



· Provide regular updates of work progress to the client(s) and other persons identified as interested parties.



· Liaise appropriately with the Senior Manager and with customers and suppliers to get the job completed professionally and quickly.



· Let the appropriate member in the office know when access equipment and materials can be off hired.



· Perform any other tasks relative to your position as may be deemed appropriate time to time by the Senior Managers.



· Hand over completed fire curtain systems and train users on site ensuring that they have a competent working knowledge of the fire curtains and their control panels.

Smoke and Fire Curtains Ltd are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and reliable full time assistant to help in our busy factory on a permanent basis.

The role will include but not limited to the below;

Packing

Loading and unloading deliveries – Forklift Licence would be preferred but not essential.

Driving (deliveries and collections) – Clean Full UK Driving Licence required

Smoke and Fire Curtains Ltd is based in Syston, Leicestershire in the construction and fire industry, manufacturing (and installing) fire and smoke curtains.

The Factory Assistant position is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 07:30 - 16:00, with a half hour unpaid break and two paid 20 minute breaks.

Experience is not essential as full training will be provided, though a full clean UK driving licence is required.

IFC Certification Ltd is an independent UKAS accredited provider of third party certification in support of fire safety and security who recognise the necessity for installers to be able to demonstrate capability and traceability of their products and services.

Fire Resistance Testing, the final test under BS8524-1

Smoke and Fire Curtains Ltd are pleased to announce the successful completion of Specimen 3, on our FireSafe 240 product range under BS8524-1.

Prior to testing, our specimen 3 system, was also tested earlier for its reliability and durability under Annex D, resulting in a C1 classification.

Velocity range checks were also complete to ensure the FireSafe 240 assembly shall gravity fail safe to its fire operational position safety in a controlled manner within the velocity range as specified within the standard.

A big thank you to Luczak testing officer for carrying out the fire resistance testing in accordance to EN1634-1:2014 + A1:2018.

Care Home Forum & Exhibition 2019

What a fantastic two day event! We met directly with buyers at the Care Home Forum & Exhibition which was held at The Chesford Grange Hotel.

Lots of networking opportunities were enjoyed which included meeting other suppliers of interest in the sector. All this was followed by a black tie Gala Dinner and Christmas Party. What's not to love?!

We have come away from this two day event with many new opportunities, having spent quality time in face-to-face meetings with real decision makers from leading Care Groups. We have had the pleasure of discussing high profile opportunities for upcoming care and nursing home work located across the UK and are very much looking forward to next years Care Home Forum & Exhibition.

We're Looking for a Powder Coating Assistant!

A full time permanent position working 40 hours a week, 07:30-16:00 Monday – Friday with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break and two twenty minute paid breaks.

Pay to be discussed depending on experience.

Overtime rates will apply if overtime is required by the company.

Duties will include:

Checking the colours of jobs, ensuring they are painted the correct colour.

Ensuring jobs are painted by the deadline date.

Wiping down steel work to ensure a clean surface to powder coat.

Spraying an even coat on to the steel work.

Working close with fabrication and packing department to ensure a smooth flow.

Black Book Meeting

Smoke & Fire Curtains have been members of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) for some time now but earlier this year saw our Managing Director, Simona Pillay, join the Technical Committee – the ASFP committee to discuss and contribute into the ASFP Task Group 7 “Black Book” (TG7) Active Fire Curtain Barriers which reviews the specifications related to BS8524.

The group was established in December 2016 and is currently drafting the ASFP Black Book which aims to provide guidance on the specification, use and application of active fire curtain barriers. Simona will be meeting with them this week.
