🚒At 0230 this morning Red Watch was mobilised to a Road Traffic Collision on Spencefield Lane in Leicester.

🚗On arrival crews found a single vehicle in collision with a tree.

👨‍🚒Crews worked to Stabilise the vehicle and formulate a plan then extricate the driver.

🚑Working alongside East Midlands Ambulance Service & Leicestershire Police fire crews undertook a full roof removal to allow a safe extrication of the driver.

🏥The Driver was taken to hospital with non-life threating injuries

🌧With the change to very wet weather conditions please take your time and drivea d give yourself more time to react while driving – reduced visibility and wet roads will increase your stopping distance in the event of an accident. In wet weather, the stopping distance will be at least double.

🛞Check the tread and pressure of your tyres, that all your lights work and the condition of your windscreen and wipers before you set off.

🔴Two incidents of note for Red Watch yesterday alongside number of smaller incidents during this very busy period for our crews.

🚒Just after starting on duty at 0715, both our appliances were called to a EV car fire spreading to the property.

🚒Further appliances were sent due to further calls of fire spreading to the property.

🔥Crews were able to stop to fire causing major damage to the house but badly damaged the outside of the property.

👨‍🚒In total 6 Firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the main fire using 2 Hose Reel Jets, 1 Main Jet and Monitor and checked internal parts of the building for unseen fire spread

👨‍🚒Fortunately, no one was hurt following the fire.

🔥The second incident was at Thurnby chippy at
1600 again both our appliances alongside

👨‍🚒Crews were again committed in breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire that had started in the fryer and spread into the ventilation system.

👨‍🚒Crews checked the flats above to check fire had not breeched floor above.

🔥We committed 6 Firefighters in Breathing Apparatus using 2 Hose Reel Jets and 1 Main Jet.

🔥It continues to be a very busy period for crews across the service and nationally.

🚒We continue to respond to various incidents, but you will have seen we are attending more field & woodland fires.

👨‍🚒These incidents can be very demanding on our crews and stretch resources availible and our brilliant control room staff who somehow make it all work behind the scenes and ensure 999 calls are promtly sent the resources needed.

🚒Last night Tuesday 28th July Crews from Eastern were mobilised to reports of a building fire at 23:17

⛪️On arrival crews found this was the grade 2 listed St Andrews Church on Jarrom Street in Leicester

🚒The incident commander requested 8 Pumps, Turntable Ladder and Aerial Ladder Platform & Command Support Vehicle to attend the incident.

👨‍🚒Mutiple firefighters in breathing apperatus have entered the building to extinguish the fire and also protect other areas of the church.

🔥The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and we are working with Cadent Gas and National Grid to isolate gas and electric to the site.

👨‍🚒Crews are still on scene to damp down and ensure no further fire spread.
