Annual health checks are free health assessments offered to individuals with learning disabilities, typically those aged 14 and over, to help them stay healthy and manage their conditions. These checks are a chance for a person with a learning disability, their family, or carers, and their doctor or nurse to review their physical and mental health. The goal is to identify any health issues early on, so they can be addressed promptly.
Who is eligible?
Individuals aged 14 and over with a learning disability who are on their doctor's learning disability register.
People with moderate, severe, or profound learning disabilities, or those with mild learning disabilities who also have complex health needs, are typically entitled to these checks.
If you are unsure if you or the person you care for is on the register, you can contact the GP practice.
