We are appealing for help to locate a 36-year-old woman who is missing from the Aylestone area of Leicester.

Agita Karkle was reported missing at 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 1 September) and police are concerned for her welfare.

Agita is 5ft 5ins tall, medium build and has very long dyed bright red hair.

When she was last seen, she was wearing a red and white plaid gilet and blue pyjama bottoms.

Anyone who has seen Agita and knows of her whereabouts is asked to call 101, quoting incident 427 of 1 September.

🚔 Weekly Round-Up | Leicester City Centre Team (NC04 beat) 🚔

It's been another busy week for the team, balancing visible neighbourhood policing, community engagement, partnership working and responding to emergencies across the city;

🚲 Community Engagement & Bike Register Event

PC Tom and PCSO Donna were at Town Square hosting a bike register event, helping cyclists protect their property and offering crime prevention advice. They also worked alongside local authority partners and residents to address ongoing concerns around antisocial behaviour on the Grand Union Embankment. Further patrols are planned as we continue to tackle these issues.

☕ Local Officer Drop-In

PCSO Jane hosted a local officer drop-in at a city centre café, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to speak directly with their neighbourhood team about issues affecting them and their communities.

🚔 Supporting Emergency Response

Neighbourhood officers don't just work on the beat: PC Georgie and PC Sahib spent time supporting the force's response function, attending incidents and assisting with the core policing role of responding to crime and emergency calls for service on Bank Holiday Monday.

🚴 Policing History Ride

On Sunday, PC Tom and PCSO Jane took part in the annual Policing History Ride, organised by Leicester City Council. The event brought together around 20 participants for a guided cycle tour exploring Leicester's rich policing history. The ride also provided an opportunity for open and honest conversations about modern policing, with attendees asking a range of thoughtful and challenging questions about policing today. Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.

📨 Tackling Antisocial Behaviour

PC Dean has continued his work identifying young people involved in antisocial behaviour in the city centre. Over the past two weeks, he has issued 53 warning letters to parents and guardians, ensuring families are made aware of concerns and helping us intervene early before behaviour escalates further.

🛍️ Working to Reduce Retail Crime

Retail crime remains a key priority. PC Tom and Sgt Zane attended partnership meetings with senior officers and stakeholders to explore new technology that could help identify offenders, support investigations and strengthen our overall approach to tackling retail crime across the city.

🌧️ Another day, another bit of rain! 🌧️

Despite the weather, our Officers and PCSOs have been out and about across the beat keeping busy and supporting our local community.

Today, our officers have:

🔐 Assisted a resident with securing their property after they were identified as a victim of cuckooing, providing reassurance and advice to help improve their safety.

💙 Visited a vulnerable resident as part of a welfare check, with appropriate safeguarding measures put in place to ensure they receive the right support.

🤝 Visited local businesses along Braunstone Gate, offering crime prevention advice.

🏠 Provided security alarms to a resident, helping them to feel safer and more secure in their home.

🚓 Supported our City Beat colleagues with an area search for a vulnerable missing person.

Our Officers continue to work closely with residents, businesses and partner agencies to help keep our communities safe and supported. 👮

Due to an increase in reported burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles across the area, we are encouraging residents to take simple steps to protect their property.
SmartWater is a forensic marking solution that helps police identify and recover stolen property, whilst also acting as a powerful deterrent to offenders.

Tackling drug related issues on Museum Square and New Walk

• You want to enjoy the open space on Museum Square and New Walk but drug dealing and drug taking are preventing you from doing this.

WE DID:
- The Cultural Quarter team have continued to conduct high visibility patrols in the area with PCSOs also holding engagements with local people. Our intelligence picture of the location and surrounding areas continues to develop. Those with identified vulnerabilities have also been offered the correct safeguarding.

🚔 The Riverside Team were joined by the Priority Team today to attend an address believed to have been targeted by drug dealers through cuckooing.

🏠 Whilst no dealers were present at the time of our visit, officers achieved a positive result by locating a female who was wanted on warrant. She was also sought in connection with the exploitation of a vulnerable local male, from whom hundreds of pounds had reportedly been taken over a number of weeks.

👮‍♀️ The female has been arrested and remains in police custody. ⚖️ She is due to appear before the courts tomorrow.

🚓 In addition, PCSO V and PCSO Jas have been assisting the Central Beat Team in response to reports of youths causing issues at a local car park.

🚲👮‍♀️👮‍♂️ Listening to our communities and taking action

Following concerns from residents about drug related antisocial behaviour along the Grand Union Embankment PCSO Donna and I have been carrying out targeted patrols in the area.

We started by meeting local residents on a patch walk, giving them the opportunity to show us exactly where issues were occurring and helping us build a clear picture of the concerns affecting the community. I also had conversations with the estates management company. We then carried out reassurance patrols during the day before returning during the hours of darkness, when residents told us the problems were most likely to reoccur.

We also hosted a bike registration event in Town Hall Square, helping cyclists protect their bikes.

Meanwhile, our other colleagues from the NC04 Beat Team have been tackling antisocial behaviour reports at the Euro Car Parks site on Abbey Street.

Cultural Quarter Priority Update:

Tackling vehicle anti-social behaviour and driving offences in the area around Granby Street, Wellington Street and Belvoir Street.

YOU SAID:
-You want to enjoy the Granby Street and surrounding area but vehicles causing anti-social behaviour and committing driving offences are preventing this.

WE DID:
- The Cultural Quarter Team along with colleagues from our hotspot team conducted an operation called Op Streetwise. This is targeted enforcement in the area around ASB and road traffic offences. A number of vehicles were stopped and drivers/occupants spoken to. A couple of seizures took place under the new Section 59 legislation. Following engagements with local businesses, many are reporting an improvement in the area.

⭐ Cultural Quarter Weekly Round-Up ⭐

🚔 PCSO 6187 and PCSO 6571 identified not one, but two outstanding suspects during patrols this week.

• One male was wanted for robbery and theft offences.
• A second male was wanted for a number of offences, including robbery, burglary, multiple shop thefts, and recall to prison. He was subsequently arrested and returned to prison.

👮 PCSO 6187 and PCSO 6571 also carried out CCTV enquiries in relation to recent burglaries. As a result, one male was identified and later arrested.

🚔 PS Cross and his team conducted plain-clothes patrols around stores on Granby Street that have been affected by shop thefts. These patrols resulted in two arrests.

🚔 PS Cross and PCSO Brad were conducting enquiries at Tesco, Welford Place, when a male approached them stating that he believed he was outstanding with police. Further checks confirmed that he was wanted on a recall to prison. The male was arrested and returned to prison.

⭐ PCSO Becs has been carrying out additional patrols along Granby Street, speaking with shopkeepers and fast-food outlets regarding anti-social behaviour (ASB). Encouragingly, there has been a noticeable decrease in both ASB and vehicle-related ASB in recent weeks.

🛒 PS Cross and PCSO Brad encountered a male known to police for shop theft offences. Following a search, several stolen meat joints were found in his bag. PCSO 6187 and PCSO Becs attended the relevant store to establish whether a theft had occurred. A report was taken and the suspect was subsequently identified.

🚙 PS Cross came across an incident in the Horsefair Street area where a taxi driver had been assaulted. The suspect was still at the scene and was arrested. After details were obtained from the victim, he attended hospital to have his injuries assessed.

🚔 PS Cross and PCSO Brad, whilst on patrol, encountered a male who was wanted in connection with a sexual offence. The male was stopped and arrested.

👏 A great week of proactive policing by the Cultural Quarter team, resulting in multiple arrests, positive engagement with local businesses, and continued work to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

🚔 Evening all,

Whilst PS Cross and PCSO Brad were conducting enquiries at Tesco, Welford Place, in relation to a shop theft, a male approached them and stated that he believed he was wanted by police.

Following further checks, it was confirmed that the male was outstanding on a recall to prison.

The male was subsequently arrested and will be returned to prison to continue serving his sentence.
