📣 Hidden allergens – they're not always where you expect them!

Allergens can be in foods you might not expect, such as sauces, gravies, stock cubes, spice mixes, desserts, processed meats, baked goods and even some drinks.

💡Remember:

✅ Always read the label – recipes can change

✅ Ask about allergens when eating out or buying non-prepacked food

✅ Never guess if you’re unsure

Food businesses have a legal duty to provide accurate allergen information. If you think a business isn’t doing this, report it to us here www.tinyurl.com/Report-It-Here

💅 Calling nail technicians! Are you aware of the ban on TPO in professional nail products?

⚠ Trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide (TPO) is an ingredient used in UV/LED-cured nail products as a ‘photoinitiator’. This means it helps the gel curing process by starting the chemical reaction (polymerisation) that creates the hard-wearing, durable nail surface.

ℹ️ From 15 August 2026, manufacturers can no longer place new cosmetic products containing TPO on the market in Britain.

Professional nail technicians can continue to use products containing TPO on clients until 14 February 2027, from when supplying nail products containing TPO will be banned.

🐮 When our animal health officers visit farms we inspect the livestock kept by the business. If livestock is kept on land that is not a permanent holding, keepers may need to apply for a Temporary Land Association (TLA).

ℹ️ Before applying, keepers must ensure:

👉 They have a County Parish Holding (CPH) Number.

👉 The land is within 10 miles of the main area they keep livestock.

👉 They are the only person that keeps livestock on the land or building.

A TLA can help reduce the need to report animal movements between associated parcels of land, but it remains the keeper's responsibility to comply with all livestock identification, movement, welfare and disease control regulations.

📣 Our Trading Standards officers paid a visit to Croft Car Boot on Sunday to give advice to traders.

More than 50 were given advice about product safety, correct food labelling, animal feed and other elements we enforce, including electrics, cosmetics and toys.

🧸 Children’s toys were also looked at, with 3D printed and soft toys needing to be compliant so they’re safe for children.

The work was in partnership with Leicestershire Police.
