๐ŸŒŸ Bringing people together to improve skin cancer care
๐Ÿค We recently welcomed colleagues from across the East Midlands to our latest Skin ECAG meeting, bringing together clinicians, Cancer Nurse Specialists, operational leads and patient representatives to drive real collaboration and improvement.

๐Ÿ’ก A key focus was on personalised care: from care planning and prehabilitation to supporting patients at the end of treatment. We also celebrated the incredible work of our Cancer Nurse Specialists ๐Ÿ’™, while discussing the challenges and opportunities to strengthen these vital roles.

๐Ÿš€ We explored innovation too, including teledermatology, AI and ways to improve pathways and capacity.
๐Ÿงก Most inspirationally, our patient representatives reminded us why this work matters, highlighting the need for clear communication and truly patient-centred care.

Together, weโ€™re shaping the next steps to improve experience and outcomes across the region ๐ŸŒโœจ

๐ŸŒโœจ Making a difference in cancer screening awareness
Weโ€™re proud to see the GPA Cancer Screening Awareness Project continuing to build trust, confidence and understanding in communities most affected by health inequalities โค๏ธ

๐Ÿค Working alongside 11 incredible community organisations โ€“ including cultural and faith groups โ€“ weโ€™re bringing conversations about cancer screening into spaces where people feel comfortable and heard.

๐Ÿ“… From wellbeing events and awareness sessions to coffee mornings and faith-based activities, hundreds of people are learning about symptoms and why early help matters.

๐ŸŒ By using multilingual, culturally sensitive resources and coโ€‘produced activities, weโ€™re helping to open up honest conversations about cancer screening in diverse communities.

๐Ÿ’ฌ The feedback has been truly encouraging, with many people describing sessions as reassuring, empowering and informative.

๐Ÿ”Ž With more events on the way, this work shows the power of community-led approaches in reducing inequalities and supporting earlier diagnosis.

๐Ÿง  New research from the East Midlands could improve psychological therapy outcomes
Exciting findings from the TRIPOD study show how a focused training approach could help therapists deliver even better care ๐Ÿ’ฌ

This โ€œdeliberate practiceโ€ method supports therapists to build their skills in a structured way โ€” with real benefits for patients:
โœจ Anxiety recovery rates improved from 65% to 75%
โœจ Depression outcomes also increased after training

And it only takes around 32 hours of training over 10 weeks โฑ๏ธ โ€” making it a practical and costโ€‘effective way to strengthen NHS psychological therapies.
๐Ÿ’ก This could make a real difference to the quality of support people receive.
