Itโ€™s National Stalking Awareness Week. Last year, I experienced stalking. The impact on mental health is real, lasting, and too often overlooked.

The โ€œFatal Fixationโ€ report makes it clear Suzy Lamplugh Trust must be routinely considered in domestic abuse and su***de risk assessments.

We cannot afford to miss the warning signs - there is helpโ€ฆ

Samaritans National Domestic Violence Hotline

And the worst part? Leadership at my former OPCC employer (ironically a public organisation who works with victims of crime) failed to understand it at all!

Our mission is to campaign, educate and support people to help reduce the risk of violence and aggression for everyone.

What a busy few months!

โญ๏ธA fun evening with Mel Stride last weekend ๐Ÿฅ‚after a busy AGM the week before and association surgery, great to let my hair down!
โญ๏ธ Campaigning in Wimbledon village with the superb Will Orson & Ed Argar MP (and wonderful to see my former councillor colleagues too, itโ€™s been nearly 12 years since my first ever election back in May 2014)
โญ๏ธ At our 3 MPs Quiz event - although we did not win, I acquired some useful quiz trivia from our expert quiz master Jacob. ๐Ÿฅณ

๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’ฐ The hidden cost of dangerous dogs in Leicestershire

Seized dangerous dogs are costing our force hundreds of thousands of pounds in kennelling, medical care, welfare and staff time.

๐Ÿ“Œ Two illegal breeds have been held for almost 2 years while cases wait for trial at Crown Court โ€” costing over ยฃ50,000 so far.
๐Ÿ“Œ Every court adjournment adds to the bill.
๐Ÿ“Œ Every Defra referral drains police time and resources.

Iโ€™ve written to the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs to highlight this injustice.

Why should local policing budgets โ€” already under huge strain due to a draconian funding formula โ€” be forced to absorb these costs?

Itโ€™s time for Defra to take responsibility.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Do you agree that taxpayers shouldnโ€™t have to pay twice โ€” once for policing and again for dog kennelling costs? Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire Leicestershire Police Yvette Cooper

๐Ÿšจ Yesterday the Fixed Term Recall (FTR48) initiative was launched โ€” and I have serious concerns.

โš ๏ธ Our probation teams are already stretched to the limit, and this only piles on more pressure.
โš ๏ธ FTR48 creates a dangerous โ€œyo-yo effect,โ€ with prisoners moving in and out of custody without Parole Board checks.
โš ๏ธ It increases risks inside prisons, especially with links to organised crime.
โš ๏ธ Shockingly, it even applies to those convicted of domestic abuse and stalking โ€” offences that pose a huge risk to victims.

Public safety and victim protection must come first. FTR48 in its current form risks undermining both.

๐Ÿ‘‰ What do you think โ€” does this make our communities safer, or less safe?

Police and Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews is appealing for victims of domestic abuse who use a hidden mobile phone to opt out of a national Emergency Alerts test to maintain their safety.

All compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and tablets will receive a loud, siren-like alert and vibration lasting 10 seconds at 3pm on Sunday 7th September 2025.

The two-day APCC Conference kicked off with energy โ€” coffee in hand and lively conversation with my fellow deputies from Lincolnshire and Humberside.

I raised key questions on two urgent issues:
โ€ข The prison capacity crisis, particularly the long-term incarceration of non-violent offenders โ€” can we be more innovative? Each prison place costs ยฃ50,000 per annum on average.
โ€ข Support for male victims of domestic abuse โ€” a group too often overlooked. I pressed for their full inclusion in the national Violence Against Women and Girls strategy, to ensure all victims have a voice and access to support.

Important conversations, strong collaboration, and a shared determination to push for change Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire

โญ๏ธOur brave Leicestershire Police officers โญ๏ธโ€” true local heroes. In the face of danger and extreme circumstances, two officers with just 2โ€“3 years of service showed exceptional courage and dedication by saving the life of a female victim.

Thank you for representing the very best of Leicestershire at the National Police Bravery awards tonight Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire Leicestershire Police
