At the end of the third year in post for me, Rosie and Becca, and the first year for Laura, we are very proud of our achievements. We’d like to start by saying a big thank you to Mrs Pearce and Miss White for all their amazing support this year, you’ve enabled us to achieve a lot over the past 12 months.
In total we raised £7787 – please take a look at the image to see the detailed breakdown of how this money was raised.
We enjoyed a particularly successful Christmas Fair, including our very popular Elfridges store in the week leading up, and our fabulous light trail. We welcomed Father Christmas to the Fair and for a visit to the children in their classrooms during school hours.
We also ran a few successful sales this year – the always popular doughnuts, a World Book Day Sale, a Greeting Cards sale and of course our weekly ice cream sales in the summer term. We really enjoy running these after school sales. Thanks to everyone who helps us with these, and a special thanks to Nade, who has been at every single ice cream and doughnut sale since we started running them but sadly will be moving on from the PTA at the end of this year as her son moves onto Middle School. A huge thank you for everything you’ve done for the PTA over the years.
Our online uniform shop has gone from strength to strength, with huge thanks to Liz for taking this on, sorting all the uniforms and managing the online shop. We successfully applied for a town council grant earlier in the year to purchase a new shed, which is now home to all our uniforms, and will keep them clean and dry for many years to come. A big thank you to Dave for donating his time and expertise to build the shed, we are really grateful. Thank you as well as our fantastic team of volunteers who took on the demolition project! The uniform shop raised a fantastic £387 this year, but I think we all agree that the impact of this is far greater than fundraising, and we are proud to reduce the amount of uniform going to landfill, and to be able to help families keep costs down at a time when we are all feeling the pinch more and more.
In the spirit of sustainability, we also launched a new service – our party kit – which is a reusable set of plates, cups and cutlery that you can hire for a weekend from the PTA. Massive thanks to Elena for organising this for us. Please do consider using this for your next party.
Just a few weeks ago we had our fabulous Summer Fair, which was held on a sunny, but not-too-sunny, Friday afternoon. Thank you to all our volunteers who supported us with both our fairs this year. In particular, we'd like to thank Lisa, who has been an absolute legend over the past few years at planning, organising and running our refreshments at all our fairs. Sadly, Lisa is also moving on at the end of this year, as her daughter moves to middle school. If anyone is up for taking on this role at our next Christmas Fair, please let us know!
We’d also like to thank Sarah, who took on the role of raffle coordinator last summer and has done a great job of organising our raffles for both of the fairs this year.
We’re proud to have been able to subsidise a trip or visit for every child in the school this year. We also subsidised a theatre visit for every child at Christmas. We ran a fun Easter Egg hunt which the children took part in during school hours, and every child came home with an egg to enjoy. We are currently in process of purchasing some wicker play equipment for the children to enjoy at playtime on the field or playground, and this should be in place by the time they come back in September.
Finally, we have mentioned a few of our volunteers today, but there are many more, and we honestly couldn’t have raised anywhere near this amount of money, or delivered as many events or services as we have this year without them. So a huge thank you to every person who has volunteered their time to help us this year, I hope you enjoy being part of the PTA as much as we do.
