FILMING AROUND LIBRARY ON FRIDAY

We've been informed that there will be filming around the Hillhead on Friday (19th) from 1pm - 6pm. There will be stop/go system will be implemented during this time and brief holds whilst filming takes place.

There is also an impact on parking in these areas.

We're sorry to report that the Mobile is still in the garage.

Library staff are contacting customers and will do home deliveries with the peerie van, where available.

Wir faithful foe Stewart Bain is back! The former Orkney Library Twitter Chief (aka Cheeky Monkey) is in town for this weekend’s Shetland Noir festival at Mareel. He will be in conversation with headliner Lee Child on Friday night.
We hope to see some of you over the weekend!

(We do love an excuse to be bad to him 😏)

📝 Shetland Story Slam organisers, Liz Musser and Ruth Oliver, have written a blog post reflecting on their previous event and what's to come in the second, next month.

Shetland Story Slam is inspired by the award-winning Moth storytelling events, first held in New York City 25 years ago. The first event, and accompanying workshops, were held last year.

Shetland Noir!

Welcome to everyone attending Shetland Noir this week!

Here in the library our main display has taken on a Cluedo vibe, displaying books by participating authors. Our fantastic staff have also done a crime scene, but no library staff were harmed in the making of this display!

Upstairs in Classics we also have a brilliant Classic Crime display chosen by our volunteer Frazz.

Today we’ve had Louise Mangos & Lexie Conynham come by to visit. If you’re here for Noir, we’d love to see you!

Did you know that the library has a selection of Large Piece Jigsaws to borrow and Large print scrabble, boggle and an RNIB chess board for you to try in the library.

Any returning books can be left at the school office to be processed, or returned to Shetland Library in Lerwick.
