Does their behaviour cross the line?

As many people in Sussex are enjoying this year’s football World Cup, for some it will only be a time of fear, violence and control.

Nationally, we know that reports of domestic violence increase during major football tournaments.

That is why we run Operation Hope, a partnership approach to protecting those in Sussex who are the highest risk of falling victim to domestic abuse.

If you are a victim, or you witness any behaviour that could constitute domestic abuse, please report to us online or via 101 - you are not alone, we are here for you.

Continued action following community concerns⬇️

Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the coast continue proactive patrols following recent reports from concerned residents around the use of illegal vehicles, and both the dangerous and anti-social manner they are being ridden by some in the area.

This time officers took to patrols in Newhaven, resulting in the seizure of two further vehicles including an e-scooter and an off-road bike after being ridden in public areas without insurance and being used in an anti-social and dangerous manner.

During these patrols, officers have taken the time to speak to youngsters to explain why vehicles are seized; while ownership may be legal, using them without insurance, in restricted public areas, and in a way that puts others at risk will lead to enforcement action.

Officers will continue to work with young people in the area to help them understand how their behaviour affects the wider community, including the fear, nuisance and disruption it can cause, as well as the risks to themselves and others associated with dangerous riding.

We hope these recent results in both Newhaven and Peacehaven provide reassurance that concerns are being heard and that action is being taken to keep our communities, open spaces, residential areas and roads safe for everyone.

We're searching for Tae who is missing from Eastbourne, could you help us?

The 15-year-old was last seen in Essex on Friday 12 June at around 12.50pm.

He is 5'6" with dark hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on his hands. It is believed he may be wearing a dark tracksuit and is carrying a black Nike rucksack.

Tae also has links to Cooksbridge, Barcombe, Seaford, Newhaven, Lewes, Eastbourne Old Town and Hampden Park, and Polegate.

Anyone who sees Tae or who has information of his whereabouts is asked to call 101 and quote reference 47260144366.

Speed checks in Newhaven

Earlier this month, officers from your Newhaven Policing Team joined colleagues from the Sussex Police Road Safety Team to carry out targeted speed checks following an increase in reports of speeding.

Speed enforcement was carried out using detection equipment across key routes including New Road, Avis Road, The Hollow (A26) and Beach Road, all of which have been highlighted by local residents as areas of concern.

During the course of the shift, a number of vehicles were recorded exceeding the speed limit, and those drivers will be hearing from us.

We continue to work together to keep our roads safe, focusing on the Fatal 5 offences, including speeding and the use of mobile phones or other distractions, which contribute to serious and fatal collisions on Sussex roads each year.

Calling all tradespeople - tool theft costs local trades both time and money.

Lewes Police are working with the Sussex PCC to help protect your livelihood by offering free tool marking with the latest SELECTA DNA kits to make equipment harder to steal and easier to return if recovered.

📍 Where: Lewes High Street (Opposite Waterstones)
📅 When: Saturday 11th July
⏰ Time: 10:00 - 12:00

Local tradespeople can drop by to get theirs free following a quick, simple registration for the marking kit which is done on the day.
