East Sussex Fostering

East Sussex Fostering We are the fostering service for East Sussex County Council and we find foster homes for all our local children and young people who need them.

As the local authority we are responsible for finding foster homes for all the children and young people from East Sussex who need them. By fostering for us you will have the advantage of fostering through a local authority that will always have children waiting to be placed, which means we can offer first choice of placements to our in-house carers. We will only use carers from a private agency if we do not have enough foster carers of our own.

A wonderful day yesterday when foster carers, the fostering team, professional partners and guest speakers got together in one place, face-to-face to share stories, updates and catch up.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, for those who organised the event and to the crèche team who made it possible for carers with pre-school children to come along and enjoy the day:
➡️Live stream from CaringLife - the secure memories upload app
➡️Speakers from the ESCC Family Time service, Virtual School and Family First Principal Social Worker
❤️ Guest speakers who inspired the room when discussing Heading Home and Relationships
➡️Representation from various areas of the fostering service - available for updates and questions including the fostering admin team, Young People Who Foster, Replenish, parent & child fostering, kinship carer lead, Mockingbird family model, IRO's for My Voice Matters, the child exploitation service, CAST (connections and support team who helped run the crèche too), foster carer training, support groups, My things matter (Children in Care Council) - and our management team who gave updates and chatted to our carers in the coffee and lunch breaks.
➡️Thank you to the East Sussex Foster Care Association who supplied information (and sweets!), the ESCC Virtual School for some beautiful books and Project Linus UK for the handmade quilts - all donated to go home with our carers in their goody bags.

Enjoy your plans and memory-making wherever you are in beautiful East Sussex this Bank Holiday weekend.
This clip is from the 'Everything' short film. It shows how lasting relationships are formed with young people often staying in touch and visiting or join family celebrations with foster carers who were there for them when they needed it most.
