Op Raptor is a Special Constabulary-led operation tackling illegal and nuisance bikes across Chorley and South Ribble 🚗🏍️🚲🛴

You, the public, regularly tell us that you’re fed up with this type of anti-social behaviour and criminality — particularly e-bikes, e-scooters and Sur-Rons — and that you’re concerned somebody is going to get seriously injured or worse.

As a result, we wanted to showcase the work going into this and some of the results we’re achieving. Across two shifts this weekend…

🏍️ 2 motorcycles seized under S.165 RTA after both riders were stopped after racing each other around Clayton Brook. Neither had insurance.

🚗 1 car seized under S.165 RTA after the driver was initially stopped for racing down Eaves Lane, Chorley. Checks revealed he had an expired licence following disqualification and was also uninsured. He was reported for both offences.

🚗 1 car seized under S.19 PACE after the driver decided running away was preferable to speaking to us. A search of the vehicle uncovered a variety of items used in criminality.

🚗 1 further car seized under S.165 RTA for no insurance.

🛴 1 e-scooter seized for no insurance and no licence.

🚲 1 e-bike seized for no insurance and no licence.

🚓 1 stolen car recovered and sent for forensic examination.

As we’ve mentioned, illegal e-bikes, e-scooters, Sur-Rons and other nuisance vehicles are high on the list of things you tell us you want us to tackle.

We hope posts like this show that we’re listening — and more importantly, doing something about it.

Op Raptor isn’t going anywhere! 🏍️ 🚗 🚲 🛴

You might remember that last week we asked for your help to identify a man we wanted to speak to in connection with a series of attempted burglaries on Brampton Drive in Bamber Bridge where door handles at a number of properties had been tried.

Yesterday, thanks to information provided by you, officers from the South Residential Burglary Team arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of attempted burglary.

He has since been bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.

We want to thank everyone who shared our appeal. It is always greatly appreciated.

Hate is NOT part of the job!

That’s the message we’ve been continuing to spread to businesses across South Ribble as part of Operation Hail, reminding people that abuse and hate have no place in the workplace!

From takeaways to pubs and health settings, we’re continuing to visit all kinds of businesses to make sure employers and staff know what counts as hate crime, how to report it and where to get support.

A hate crime is when a person is targeted because of prejudice, intolerance, or hostility towards part of their identity, such as their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, transgender identity, or lifestyle.

If you’ve been a victim of any type of hate crime, report it either directly to us or through one of the 22 third-party reporting centres in South Lancashire.

🚨 🚨 Great News 🚨 🚨

Many of you in Leyland have told us via Lancashire Talking that Road Safety is an issue where you live.

Due to this your local Task Force have today been out tackling Anti Social Drivers amongst other things.

Subsequently we have seized the two cars in the image for driving without valid insurance.

Both driver's provided a very similar story. "Please Officer, I am insured fully comp on another car so I can drive this one with Third Party Insurance"

We subsequently checked this information with the Motor Insurance Bureau and it turns out they were both NOT Inured.

This seems to be a common misconception amongst drivers that you can drive ANY Vehicle if you have a fully Comprehensive insurance package on a vehicle but this is NOT the case. You must check your own Policy before choosing to drive another vehicle because you could risk having that car seized and potentially 6 Penalty Points on your licence.

To those of you who have told us about the Road safety issues then I hope you can see that we are listening and we will act on your concerns.

Thanks in Anticipation

The weekend before 24th October 2024, Jake Bolton consumed a cannabis edible. You may think that around four days later, this would be out of his system and he would be safe to drive.

He wasn’t.

Jake Bolton was still over the limit that night, he was still under the influence of those edibles when his car collided with Himabindu Yadla, who was simply walking to work.

Himabindu was a mum, she had an 8-year-old little girl who now has to grow up without her.

A series of choices made by Bolton led to Himabindu’s death. He chose to consume the cannabis edibles the weekend before. He chose to get in his car in the days after. He chose to drive his car under the influence of drugs.

He has now been charged with, pleaded guilty to and jailed for causing death by driving without due care whilst unfit through drugs, causing death by driving a vehicle when uninsured and posession of a controlled drug.

To read the details of the investigation and sentencing in full, please visit: https://orlo.uk/XZlFm

Drug driving is illegal for a reason – because it is dangerous, and because it costs lives. Himabindu should have been able to cross the road and make her way to work caring for others without having her life taken by a drug driver.

If you are someone who thinks it is ok to drive under the influence of drugs, no matter how long ago you took them, we want you to stop and think.

Think of Himabindu, whose life was taken.

Think of her little girl, whose childhood has been changed in an instant.

Think of Jake Bolton, whose careless decision cost and changed those lives, and changed his own, all for the sake of a cannabis edible.

If you know someone who drug drives, please do the responsible thing and make a report to us.

You can make a report to us on 101 or in an emergency or if a crime is ongoing, call 999.

You might have seen some posts on social media over the last few days about a number of business burglaries in Bamber Bridge.

We are aware and we wanted to let you know what we are doing about it. Officers from our neighbourhood policing team are actively investigating these reports and are following a number of lines of enquiry.

They are collating evidence, carrying out house to house enquiries, reviewing CCTV footage, and engaging with local businesses to identify and obtain any additional footage which may assist the investigations.

We know that these types of incidents can cause concern within the business community and we want to reassure you that enquiries are ongoing.

To help protect your premises, ensure doors and windows are secure, review CCTV and alarm systems, remove valuables from display where possible, and make sure external areas are well lit.

Please continue to report any suspicious activity to us by calling 101 or reporting online here 👉 https://orlo.uk/TbS9H
If a crime is in progress, always call 999.
