The team was established in 2021 and covers the rural areas of Preston, Chorley, South Ribble and West Lancashire.

Since then, they’ve achieved a long list of successes and have been recognised for their continued work to tackle hare coursing and poaching and won a national award for their work to combat plant and agricultural machinery theft 🏆🏆

We’ve been out again across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble as part of , for a multi-agency operation to make sure the taxis you rely on are legal, roadworthy and safe.

We teamed up with licensing officers from seven different councils, carrying out roadside checkpoints:

✅ 210 vehicles inspected
🚓 A number of traffic offences identified and dealt with, including illegal tyres and defected lights.
🔍 2 Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act searches on passengers conducted by officers.

It’s and we’re shining the spotlight on the officers in your area who work with partners to prevent crime, and make sure local issues are dealt with before they grow into bigger problems…..

Janine is a PCSO in South Ribble and we asked her what local policing means to her 👇

❓What made you want to become a PCSO?
I have always enjoyed helping people and talking to members of the public to help find a solution to some of the issues they’re having. I have a genuine interest in making a difference to people. I have been doing the role for 6 years now and I thoroughly enjoy it. No day is ever the same and I really enjoy the challenge!

❓What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
Working with all of our partners and then seeing someone finally get the help they need due to things like mental health. It’s really rewarding seeing their quality of life improve and knowing that I have been able to help them with that.

❓What’s the best thing about the area that you patrol in?
Without a doubt it’s the contacts I have made in my area and how friendly the residents of Penwortham are. They’re always happy to have a chat with me, raise their concerns or just give me a friendly wave whilst on patrol.

A Leyland man has been fined after admitting an animal cruelty offence which left a pet cat with life‑changing injuries.

The cat became caught in an illegal trap in January and, despite making it home, suffered injuries so severe her leg had to be amputated. Luckily, she has since recovered well.

Today, a man pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. He was ordered to pay compensation, fined, and had the traps seized.

We’re appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage after a collision in Samlesbury.

We were called to Whalley Road at around 6pm on Tuesday May 26th to reports a green Mini, which had travelled up the A59 from the M6, had left the road and come to a stop in a field.

Three occupants, a man and two women suffered minor injuries.

Your Neighbourhood Policing team have been out today across Leyland completing Community Road Watch operations. We have conducted these operations on 20mph roads including Fox Lane, Slater Lane and School Lane, Moss Side.

Across these three locations the team have monitored 162 cars and identified that 24 drivers were over the speed limit. The majority of drivers are keeping our roads safe and the minority will be warned about their speed over the coming days.

If you have concerns in your area about speeding please tell us on the Lancashire Road Safety Website, we will then attend those locations and complete similar operations.

We want to speak to Hartley, 27, as part of our enquiries into a report of stalking and criminal damage.

He is 6ft 3in with light brown hair and blue eyes.
