**Update to original consultation post**

Please note that this development proposal (for 26 homes) has been formally submitted as an application - ref: 2026/955 - to TDC and has an extended comments deadline of 1 November for any representations.
The Parish Council discussed this application in an extraordinary planning meeting on 30 September (see earlier post) attended by various local residents, and voted to object to the application. The Planning Committee is currently finalising its response.
Responses for any application should be submitted via the TDC planning portal.
To note: the residents of Wolf's Row have put together a leaflet highlighting their own objection grounds, and ask anyone wishing to talk to them to email [email protected].

Little Litter Heroes

Well done to these junior litter heroes from Hazelwood School, who under the guidance of their teacher, Limpsfield Chart resident, Miss Harvey, and Parish Cllrs Harvey and Wilson, spent an afternoon litter picking around Limpsfield Common on Friday as part of their community volunteering initiative.
Our litter heroes collected loads of bags of litter!

A note to those who park up around the area near the Legion and just leave their cans, bottles and other litter lying around, please don’t! There are bins nearby or better still take everything home and put it in the recycling. Thank you! ♻️

Next Oxted and Limpsfield Litter Angels litter pick is Saturday 10 October - 10.00 from Boots in Oxted or 10.30 from the Bull Inn in Limpsfield village.

Thanks to Jim and Lee at Tandridge District Council who supply hi-vis jackets, pickers and bags to Litter Angels and pick everything up when we’re done.

🚗 Parking, speeding & pedestrian safety – a reminder

We know parking in Oxted town centre can be frustrating at times, particularly now, while the station car park is closed. We also know that people often need to make a quick stop.

However, there is generally no justification for parking on double yellow lines, on pavements, across access laneways, or too close to junctions.

We are seeing far too many vehicles stopping on the junction of Station Road East and Gresham Road, including on the double yellows. “I’m just picking up a takeaway” isn’t a safe or legal reason to stop there and forces other vehicles into the middle of the road.

Please remember that no vehicle, including one displaying a Blue Badge, may park on double yellow lines within 10 metres of a junction. Vehicles parked in these locations can seriously restrict visibility and create a dangerous situation for pedestrians, cyclists and other drivers trying to navigate the junction.

For evening and weekend takeaways, there are free parking options available:
• Ellice Road car park: free after 5pm
• Gresham Road car park: free after 6pm
• Both are free and generally have space all weekend.

Bollards have now been installed at the corner of Gresham Road and Station Road East to prevent vehicles mounting the pavement. This had become increasingly dangerous for pedestrians.

We are also seeing an increase in reports of speeding cars, bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters in and around the town centre. Please remember that pavements are for pedestrians. Bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters should not be ridden on pavements, and speeding anywhere in the town centre puts pedestrians and other road users at risk.

Reminder to pedestrians: Please use the designated crossings and pedestrian refuges. Don’t nip across the road between parked cars – it can be extremely difficult for approaching drivers to see you.

We all have a part to play in keeping Oxted’s town centre safe and accessible for everyone. Thank you for helping us do that. 💙

⚠️🚧 Please note that the Gas main replacement works in Limpsfield are scheduled to start next week - starting with:

⛔️Wolfs Row closure (diversion around New Road) Sep 28 - Oct 30
⛔️High Street closure - Oct 5 to Nov 21 (diversion via Detillens Lane)
🚧Lane closure on A25 (for works) is Oct 5 - Oct 18

PLEASE NOTE businesses will be open as usual in Limpsfield High Street.
There will apparently be some access to businesses and residents.
There may be some parts of the project when access is further restricted.
Updates will be provided ASAP.

This is part of a nationwide project for essential replacement of ageing gas mains (in our area around 80-100 years old!) and while it’s a massive pain, it is necessary… Both for service and safety.

2026/396 Broomlands Farm / Padel Centre Application
Limpsfield Parish Council recently submitted its response to Planning Application 2026/396 for the proposed padel club at Broomlands Farm.
While recognising that the site itself lies largely outside the parish, the access is via Broomlands Lane, the junction for which is in Limpsfield.
The Council has raised significant concerns regarding the proposed access arrangements via Broomlands Lane (a bridleway) and its junction with the A25. In particular, the Council shares residents' concerns about the suitability and safety of this access route, given the likely increase in traffic and the potential risks to pedestrians, cyclists, horse riders and road users.
