📚 MPs are calling for a library in every school following a sharp fall in children reading for pleasure.

The Education Committee says better access to books could support children’s learning, wellbeing and empathy, particularly for those with additional needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Every child in England should be issued with a library card from birth and have the opportunity to enjoy books at school, to stem a dramatic fall in the number of young children reading for pleasure, the Education Committee recommends in a report published today.
