This week, our foster carer Paula featured on an LBC podcast talking about her experience fostering local teenagers in Lincolnshire.

While talking about the highs of fostering, Paula shared:

"The pride when you see that young person fly the rest as a rounded, fully formed adult and you're so proud of all their achievements. When my eldest foster son passed his driving test, I was the proudest "mum" you could see."

As part of The Fostering Network's Children of Foster Carers Week, we're sharing how we support children who foster in Lincolnshire! 💙

We know that sometimes there will be other children within a fostering household, and we want them to feel supported as part of your fostering journey.

That's why, alongside the training provided to foster carers, we offer dedicated sessions for children living in your home. These sessions help them learn about fostering, understand the important role they play, and give them opportunities to ask questions or talk through anything they feel unsure about.

We also organise events and activities where they can meet other children from fostering families, helping them make connections, share experiences, and feel part of a wider fostering community.

Today marks the beginning of Kinship Care Week (5 - 11 October) ✨

We spoke to Katie about her experience becoming a kinship carer as a connected person and the support she received along the way.

“He was staying with us as a temporary measure. He settled in so well here and then the social worker asked me if we would be kinship carers. I’ve built a bond with him since he was born so it came pretty easy.”

💙 What a day! 🩷

Last week, we held our very first Foster Carers Conference, bringing together foster carers from across Lincolnshire for a day filled with learning, inspiration and well-deserved recognition.

From informative workshops and service updates to celebrating long-service awards, the day was all about recognising the incredible impact our foster carers have on the lives of children and young people in care.
