Where has that civic year gone??!! Removal of the early 18th century table in the chamber of the City of Lincoln Council took place yesterday in readiness for the ancient annual Mayor Making ceremony on the 19th May. Lincoln has had a Mayor since at least 1206 AD, but the title probably existed before then. Living history in action. 😊

We are very excited to be taking part in this year's Lincoln Festival of History which will be happening across the city from the 2nd to the 4th May. We have some great content inside and also outside of the Guildhall with talks on Cromwell in Lincolnshire, by Dr. Jon Fitzgibbons from the University of Lincoln, a fascinating talk from Professor Carenza Lewis, about the Time Team dig that took place at Norton Disney just outside Lincoln, and last but not least, John Clayworth an MA Medieval Studies student at the University of Lincoln will be taking people on a walking tour of downhill Lincoln's historic landscape revealing some ancient features hidden in plain sight. Follow the Eventbrite links below to book your place.
