๐ ๐จ A busy morning for incidents assigned to Saxilby (Station 29), we have been to 2 seperate water rescue incidents with colleagues from Lincoln North (Station 19), along with a further water rescue for a deer yesterday morning with Lincoln South (Station 20).
Unfortunately, we can not always find the exact location of the deer despite extensive searching of the canal. Deers are great swimmers, but can get exhausted if they are in the canal for a long period and canโt find a way out.
Like you, we love the local wildlife and often spot the various species from Herons to deer that call Saxilby a home. ๐ฆ
If you spot a deer that is struggling in any water course then contact Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue. Deer that are deceased in the canel can be reported to the Canal and River Trust (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/contact-us/contacting-us-in-an-emergency). Deer on the side on the roadside can be reported to the Local Authority. Please do not attempt to rescue a deer from any water course and put yourself in danger.
To assist us in an accurate location, please consider downloading the what3words app, which identifies any location on Earth with a resolution of 3 metres, assigning each square a unique, permanent address made of three random dictionary words. This really can make a difference in assisting us in any emergency. ๐จ
Our 3rd incident this morning was a fire in the open.
If you would like to join the team at Station 29, and live or work within 5 minutes of the Station, please come and see us on Wednesday night between 17:30-19:00. We are especially looking for crew members that can offer cover during 07:30-17:00 Monday to Friday.
