Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum

Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum The latest about what's happening at the Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum, North Hykeham, Lincoln,

The Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum is operated by the Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society, one of the oldest vehicle preservation societies within the UK. The Museum tells the story of road transport in the context of Lincolnshire, using a wealth of exhibits, many of which have local connections. The star exhibits are the vehicles which include buses, coaches, cars, vans, fire appliances, mot

orcycles and bicycles, many of which have been the subject of painstaking restorations by our members. The collection also contains a rich selection of additional artefacts including signposts, ticket machines, uniforms, photographs, timetables and destination blinds. Visitors can also view our modern workshops where a variety of restoration projects and vehicles undergoing maintenance can be seen. Educating and inspiring the next generation to preserve and restore vehicles of historic interest is a key aim for the museum, which has fully accredited status. For over 60 years the LVVS has thrived thanks to its volunteers, some of the original volunteers are still actively involved, others have been with us for many years. Some members have joined recently and have found the friendship and camaraderie to be found at the museum very much to their liking. All members get our quarterly full-colour magazine, which is very good if we say so ourselves! With many of our collection of vehicles having been restored we face new challenges as maintenance and administration become ever more important to us. So whether you are keen to help with the vehicle fleet, or enjoy working in other areas such as cataloguing archive documents and photographs, finding ways of raising funds such as applying for grants, working on social media projects or helping manage the legal and financial of the Society we would very much to hear from you. We have weekly working days on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 3pm. The museum is open on Sundays between 11.00 and 16.00, and also by appointment on Tuesday and Thursdays. Visitors should note that because most of the museum collection is mobile, vehicle exhibits can subject to change.
