Lincolnshire County Council â Wood Cycle Trial at Tattershall HWRC**
Lincolnshire County Council is launching a new **Wood Cycle trial** to help reduce waste and increase reuse across the county. As part of the trial, Tattershall Household Waste Recycling Centre will have a dedicated area where residents can **donate or collect goodâquality wood** that can be reused.
**What the scheme offers**
The Wood Cycle allows usable wood to be taken **free of charge** by residents, charities, community groups, schools, Menâs Sheds, repair cafĂŠs and other local organisations. Itâs ideal for DIY, crafting, repairs and community projects.
**Wood suitable for reuse includes:**
- Solid wood and hardwoods
- Plywood and chipboard
- Pallets
- Laminate
- Wooden doors
- Dimension timber (without nails)
**Wood that cannot be accepted includes:**
- Logs or green (fresh) timber
- Wood containing nails
- Wood affected by woodworm
- Certain treated or unsuitable materials
**How it works**
Staff at the site will check all donated wood to ensure it is safe and suitable for reuse.
Anyone collecting wood will be asked to read a short disclaimer and sign a log sheet. This simply records the amount taken and whether it is for personal or community use. **No personal details are collected.**
The disclaimer explains that:
- Wood is provided **asâis**, with no warranty
- It must **not** be resold or used for commercial gain
- Anyone taking wood does so **at their own risk**
**How you can get involved**
- Spread the word to neighbours, community groups, schools, charities and volunteer organisations
- Encourage local groups to make use of the free wood for community benefit
- Visit the LCC website (Reducing Waste section) for updates as the trial progresses
This trial supports our ongoing work to reduce waste, promote reuse and provide practical support to local communities. Further updates will be shared as the project develops.
