🗣️ Cllr Horscroft spoke on the Reform motion regarding the Lincolnshire Countryside, Food Security & Responsible Energy Infrastructure, check out her contribution in the post above.
She made her views clear on the debate of solar usage on Lincolnshire farmland, based on her knowledge of challenges farmers and communities face as a result of the climate crisis, existing projects around the world and preferences to where solar should be placed.
🌍 The climate crisis is putting huge pressure on both the issues of agriculture and energy, with bills rising due to the price of gas as a result of instability and war globally - making national security a further case.
📝 A late amendment ended up being more favourable to Cllr Horscroft's position, where she chose to support the amendment which brought a more balanced view of the challenges, opportunities, needs and a recognition of the City Council's consultative power given little agricultural land is represented within the City boundary.
📃 Other motions were also presented, one discussing the Scrutiny Committee positions and how these are allocated. Currently, 100% are taken by the dominant party's Councillors and Cllr Horscroft voted to change this to bring about a fairer, more balanced scrutiny system.
🗳️ Cllr Horscroft also voted for a motion to seek the full costs of the now paused Local Government Reorganisations to find out what taxpayer money has been spent on the chaos of this U-Turn.
