Linlithgow Civic Trust and Linlithgow Museum have come together for a joint Project to conserve and display the 6 panels of this unique embroidery depicting the High Street in the 1950’s, supported by One Linlithgow BID, Linlithgow Community Development Trust, and our Councillors.

We want to ensure that generations to come can learn how people lived, worked, and played in this historic street. We are therefore working to get the panels professionally stretched, mounted, framed, and displayed for posterity.

Linlithgow is renowned for its many historic buildings, and sadly, a number of these buildings have been demolished over the years. Christine wanted to preserve their memory, and so has captured them in embroidery form.

During lockdown, Christine Anderson, owner of the local shop Purely Patchwork, and a weel-kent figure in Linlithgow, took the opportunity to set about capturing Linlithgow High Street as it was when she and her friends were young. The result is The Linlithgow Embroidery, which captures the beauty of our historic buildings.
