🔴 This evening, Lagan Valley Island and Union Bridge will be illuminated red to mark the start of Blood Cancer Awareness Month.

Blood cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in children and young adults under 30. It is also the 5th most common cancer in the United Kingdom and the 3rd most fatal. 3 people in Northern Ireland are diagnosed every day.

Alderman Paul Porter, Chair of Corporate Services, expressed his support saying:
“Blood Cancer Awareness Month is an important opportunity to recognise the families across Northern Ireland who are living with the impact of blood cancer.

"By raising awareness we help encourage early action, support vital research and stand with the organisations working tirelessly to improve outcomes for patients.”

🩸You can play your part by joining the Halloween Blood Run this October, a fun family friendly event that helps fund lifesaving research and support for patients here in Northern Ireland.
