🥰🤣💔
Dear Stormont Assembly,
I never thought I’d be writing this letter, but after 27 years together, it’s time we faced the truth. We’re just not working out.
Remember when we first got together? The hope, the promises, the dreams of a brighter future for Northern Ireland? I believed in you then. I thought you’d be different from the rest. But here we are, a year into your latest term, and nothing’s changed.
You’ve let me down time and time again. Our children are struggling in underfunded schools, whilst nearly a quarter of them live in poverty. Our NHS is on its knees, with waiting lists longer than the Giant’s Causeway. And don’t get me started on the cost-of-living crisis – you’ve barely lifted a finger to help!
I’ve tried to be patient. I’ve given you chance after chance. But watching you and your mates pat yourselves on the back for “huge advances” whilst our communities suffer – well, that’s the last straw.
It’s not me, it’s you. You’re stuck in your old ways, recycling the same tired ideas and expecting different results. You’ve grown complacent, more interested in divvying up power than actually using it to make people’s lives better.
I deserve better. We all do. It’s time for a fresh start, with someone who truly cares about building a sustainable, equitable future for Northern Ireland. Someone who’ll tackle the climate crisis head-on, transform our public services, and create an economy that works for everyone – not just the privileged few.
So, this is goodbye, Stormont. I’m moving on to greener pastures – quite literally. The Green Party might not have your flashy offices or your fancy ministerial cars, but at least they’ve got integrity and fresh ideas.
Don’t bother calling. I’ll see you at the ballot box in 2027.
Yours no longer,
A Disillusioned Voter
