This , Liverpool is proud to renew its commitment to kinship families through the Liverpool Kinship Charter.

For 10 years, Kinship Care Week has shone a light on the relatives and friends who step up to keep children safe, loved and connected to the people and communities that matter most. The movement began here in Liverpool and continues to inspire communities across the world.

In this video, Cllr Liz Parsons, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, shares why kinship carers play such a vital role in helping children maintain their identity, stability and sense of belonging.

This Kinship Care Week, Kinship Carers Liverpool has organised a fantastic programme of events and activities throughout the week, bringing carers together to connect, celebrate and access support.

🎶 Monday - Relax with refreshments and ukulele entertainment
☕ Wednesday Morning - Coffee Morning
🎉 Wednesday Evening - Kin-Kids Celebration Party
📻 Thursday - Tune in to Liverpool Community Radio to hear Steve Faragher discuss kinship care
🫖 Friday - Celebration High Tea with entertainment and special guests

Kinship Care Week is also an opportunity to reach those who may be 'hidden' kinship carers. If you're raising the child of a relative or friend, you may be a kinship carer and support is available.

On Radio BBC Merseyside this morning Mandy shared her experience as a kinship carer for her three granddaughters, while Deryn reflected on what it was like growing up in kinship care and being raised by his Nan.

As we celebrate 10 years of Kinship Care Week, we're recognising the family members and friends who step up to provide love, stability and a sense of belonging for children when they need it most.

💚 Celebrating Liverpool’s kinship families

From 5-11 October, communities across the city will come together to celebrate the families, friends and neighbours who step up to care for children and help keep them connected to the people and communities they know and love.

Kinship Care Week began right here in Liverpool in 2016 and has since grown into a global celebration.

🎉 Look out for community events from Kinship Carers Liverpool, including coffee mornings, a special high tea and an intergenerational celebration.

Liverpool foster carers and the children in their care can access free Lifestyles memberships, helping them stay active, improve wellbeing, learn new skills and enjoy fun experiences together.

Supporting the wellbeing and resilience of our foster carers is just as important as supporting the children they care for, and we're proud to offer benefits that help families stay healthy, happy and connected.

A Summer to Remember ☀️💙

What an incredible summer it's been for our fostering community!

Whether it was families enjoying a well-deserved break at our Haven Caravan, taking part in our Mockingbird charity walk, celebrating the launch of our second Mockingbird constellation, or making memories on the Foster Care Association residential trip to Play Away Centre in Yorkshire, there has been something for everyone.

These moments remind us of the power of community, connection and belonging. Thank you to everyone who helped make this summer so special. ❤️
