🌟 A Roaring Success in Yorkshire! 🌟

The Liverpool Foster Carers Association's 1st residential to Yorkshire was a fantastic success for everyone involved.

Over the week, children enjoyed a packed programme of activities including fishing, swimming, animal petting, games, campfire evenings and much more. Just as importantly, foster carers had the opportunity to connect, share experiences and build friendships over countless cups of tea and chats.

A huge thank you to all the foster carers, children, volunteers and supporters who made the trip so special.

🏅☕ Liverpool celebrates foster carer Linda's MBE

Liverpool's fostering community recently came together at Liverpool Town Hall to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Linda Hurst following her award of an MBE for services to children and young people.

Joined by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr William Shortall, and Cllr Liz Parsons, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Linda shared stories from more than 45 years of fostering and the hundreds of children and young people whose lives she has helped shape.

Over her fostering journey, Linda cared for more than 200 children. Some stayed for a single night, while others remained part of her family well into adulthood. Many still keep in touch today, seeking advice on everything from cooking and budgeting to navigating life's challenges.

Speaking about Linda's contribution, Cllr Liz Parsons reflected on the lasting impact she has had on generations of children and young people, helping them build confidence, develop life skills and create brighter futures.

In true Linda fashion, she said that while she appreciates the recognition, the children and young people she has cared for have given just as much to her as she has to them. ❤️

Congratulations, Linda. Liverpool is incredibly proud and grateful for you.

🎉 Our second Mockingbird Hub is officially launched 🎉 bringing foster families together to create a stronger support network for carers and children.

With more than 20 years' fostering experience, Hub Home Carers Karen and Sam describe themselves as "foster grandparents", helping families build connections, share experiences and support one another through the ups and downs of fostering.

"Mockingbird is a group of foster carers who come together to form a family. It's about creating a village around our children."

We're excited to see Phoenix Hub flourish and to grow the Mockingbird model across Liverpool so even more foster families can benefit from being part of a hub.

A special thank you goes to our amazing foster carers 💙. Your care, support and dedication help children thrive every day, and this achievement wouldn't be possible without you.

We're proud of how far we've come and excited to keep working together to improve even further, always putting children at the heart of everything we do.

Thinking about fostering? Join a service that's continuing to grow, improve and make a real difference.

Liverpool has been chosen as one of twelve areas in the Local Youth Transformation Programme, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. This programme will help improve youth services in Liverpool by listening to young people, building stronger partnerships, and creating a clear plan for good‑quality youth work across our city.

A review in 2025 showed that Liverpool does not have a full and up‑to‑date list of youth activities and services. This makes it hard to see what is available, where the gaps are, and what young people need.

To change this, Liverpool City Council is creating a new database of all youth provision in the city to help us:
💜 Understand what support young people can access
💜 See where more services are needed
💜 Plan better for the future
💜 Build a public tool so young people and families can easily find activities near them.

Liverpool City Council has asked Merseyside Youth Association (MYA) to collect this information and make sure it is complete, accurate, and consistent. They will be contacting different organisations across the city to ask for their feedback and input into the programme. The work is expected to run until 1st July 2026.

Please share with your networks to ensure we're capturing the brilliant work going on across the city. Thank you for your support.

We were proud to attend today's Virtual School Conference, centred on the powerful theme “Leading Through Relationships: Belonging, Influence & Impact.”

It was an inspiring day hearing from keynote speakers Dr Lisa Cherry, Stephen Russell and Mark Finnis, all highlighting how everyday relationships and connections can create life-changing outcomes for children.

Stephen Russell’s message about the ‘Power of One’ illustrated the life changing impact just one person can have in a child’s life.

Dr Lisa Cherry’s moving reflection on the “in-between space” – a transitional phase where many of our children are unsure of their sense of identity, safety and belonging - truly resonated with the vital role foster carers play every day: offering stability, kindness and hope when it’s needed most.

“May you offer steadiness when the ground shifts… may your presence be a light… to hold space is to hold hope.”

This message captures exactly what fostering is all about. 💙

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, now is the time to step forward and help change a child’s story.
