Sometimes it’s the simple things that mean the most.

Last Wednesday, our ladies chose to spend the day doing something they absolutely love… shopping!

For many of us, popping to the shops is something we can do whenever we like. But for some people, getting out, browsing the aisles, choosing a little treat and enjoying the freedom to decide how to spend the day isn’t always possible.

We enjoyed a lovely wander around The Range and M&S, stopped for lunch in Costa, and, as always, couldn’t resist chatting to people in our local community. The highlight? Meeting the beautiful little Peggy, who completely stole our hearts! 🐶💕

This is what Home from Home Sefton is all about, supporting people to continue doing the things they enjoy, making their own choices, building friendships, and staying connected to the community they love. Because meaningful days don’t have to be extraordinary… they just have to be personal.

Who says the fun has to stop?

After all the laughs with the giant Kerplunk at our Memory Monday dementia group, we just had to get our mini version out too! 😄

There was plenty of friendly competition, lots of banter, and even more laughter. But the real magic is seeing friendships blossom, confidence grow, and people finding a place where they truly belong.

At Home from Home Sefton, we’re passionate about creating meaningful experiences for older adults, including those living with dementia or feeling lonely and socially isolated.

A lovely afternoon spent in the sunshine at our favourite place, One Central.

There’s nothing quite like enjoying a drink, sharing stories, and having a good chat with friends in the community. These simple moments of connection can make such a difference, and they’re exactly what Home from Home Sefton is all about.

We believe everyone deserves companionship, laughter, and the opportunity to stay connected with their community in a warm, friendly, and welcoming environment.

Our ladies and gents have made their World Cup Sweep picks, and the excitement is building! 🤩 There’s been plenty of chat, friendly competition and lots of laughter as everyone revealed which team they’ll be cheering on.

What a fantastic start to MBC Memory Mondays!

Our very first dementia-friendly community group brought so many people together from across Maghull, Lydiate and Sefton for an afternoon full of friendship, laughter and support.

With a Wimbledon theme, we enjoyed giant KerPlunk, delicious strawberries and cream, a beautiful afternoon tea kindly provided by the ladies at Maghull Baptist Church, and plenty of conversation. The room was full of smiles, and the amazing turnout showed just how important community support is for people living with dementia, those experiencing loneliness, and their families.

A huge thank you to our partners Home from Home-Sefton - CIC, Meadows Homecare, Maghull Baptist Church, Lydiate & Maghull Community Independents , Alzheimer’s Society, and our wonderful volunteers from St George’s Church. Together, we are creating a welcoming place where no one has to face dementia alone.

💜 Our next Memory Monday is Monday 20th July. If you or someone you love is living with dementia, feeling isolated, or would simply benefit from friendship and support, we’d love to welcome you.

💖Another special day making memories in our local community. 💖
Today our Home from Home Sefton family enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at St Thomas’ Primary School in Lydiate. For the fourth year running, we’ve been invited by the fantastic Year 5 class to take part in their Community Day, and it’s always one of the highlights of our year.
The children had worked so hard creating their own board games for us to play together, and it was lovely to see so many conversations, smiles and laughs as they got to know our loved ones and listened to their stories and memories.
Intergenerational activities are incredibly important. They don’t just benefit older adults, they also help children develop empathy, confidence and a greater understanding of different generations. Seeing these friendships grow year after year is something really special.
The biggest surprise of the day was when the whole class sang Happy Birthday to our lovely Brenda. She was absolutely delighted! 🎂💖
A huge thank you to all the amazing pupils and staff at St Thomas’ Primary School for your kindness, warmth and for making our loved ones feel so welcome once again.
It’s partnerships like these that make our communities across Lydiate, Maghull, Sefton and Merseyside stronger, kinder and more connected. We even bumped in to our lovely local councillor Sonia Crompton on our way out for a chat.

What a lovely afternoon we had at our third Meadows Memory Café in Lydiate!

It was wonderful to welcome so many familiar faces, see new friendships forming, and watch people supporting one another in such a warm and welcoming space.

With Wimbledon inspiring this month’s activities, everyone enjoyed testing their skills with our homemade tennis rackets, taking part in a fun quiz, and sharing plenty of laughter along the way. 🎾

📅 Our next Meadows Memory Café is Friday 7th August. If you’re looking after the grandchildren over the summer holidays, please don’t let that stop you coming, grandchildren are very welcome! ❤️

And don’t forget… MBC Memory Mondays starts this Monday, giving even more opportunities for people across Maghull and Sefton to connect, make friends and access support.

These cafés are proudly delivered in partnership by Home from Home-Sefton - CIC, Meadows Homecare, Lydiate & Maghull Community Independents , Maghull Baptist Church and Alzheimer’s Society, providing vital support for people living with dementia, their carers, families and anyone affected by dementia in our local community.
