Where can you find optical illusions, mind bending puzzles, green screen action, upside-down mayhem, beauty, awe and wonder (and if you’re really lucky, a quirk-tini)? Well that will be at the fabulous !

As a full time optical illusion nerd, I loved the nods to MC Escher, Rubin and Dali, with classic tessellation, negative space, melting clocks and Muller-Lyer forced perspective fun. You will also find bonkers upside-down scenes, Cube style games, music, weather forecasting, a golfing adventure, and more surprises around every corner! (With knowledgeable staff on hand to explain and help you set up awesome photos…because who doesn’t love that!!) 📸

To top it off there’s a brilliant, rather Traitors-esque feeling mirror maze, and a bar for if you’re feeling thirsty, or in need of a straightener to steady your racing mind after all the mind boggling sights inside!

We were also treated to a magician and some rather delicious snacks during the recent 5 year celebration, but we felt that it has stayed as cool and interesting as the day we first discovered it (swipe for a golden oldie from Jan 2020!)

Definitely a very fun place to check out, whether you’re looking for a mate date, an afternoon of family fun, or some intellectual stimulation. Highly recommended!

El Gato Negro on Castle Street has had a gorgeous little refurb, and we had the loveliest visit there trying delicious tapas!

Even better news is that between now and the 17th May they’ve got a limited time offer of 50% off food- so you could nab yourself the perfect night out or day date for a bargain price!!

The “tapas but reimagined” concept is led by chef Simon Shaw, and they’ve got an open kitchen so you can watch them preparing your food- we love that! We also love the sharing plate nature of tapas, where you can easily try lots of different dishes, but of course no visit would be complete without a carafe of Sangria- you can choose between white, red and rose, and this white one was spot on! They also do a delightful range of cocktails, and I was smitten with this Lychee martini- every bit as good as it looks!

For food we settled on 6 dishes between 2 of us, and found this easily filled us, it was lovely to try a range of items. We chose
🐟🍢 Monkfish skewers- these were especially lovely, and such a generous portion too, I’d absolutely pick these again.
🍞 Catalan bread with Serrano ham- all the Spanish feels, I really enjoyed this.
🐟 Salt Cod croquetas- another classic, beautifully presented and so flavourful
🥦 Tenderstem broccoli- Our favourite healthy option, with a little bit of a kick
🌭 Chorizo- if you’re not ordering chorizo every single time you’re missing out, we just can’t resist it! 😂
🥩 Beef Short Rib- my outstanding favourite: the meat was so so tender and the ginger glaze and sweet potato really complemented the dish- not to mention how stunning it looks 😍

The whole place feels luxurious yet relaxed, and there are a variety of places and moods to choose from, we thoroughly recommend getting booked in and checking them out!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful visit, we will be sure to be back soon!

We were thrilled to hear Kaspas Liverpool had reopened, and couldn’t wait to check it out! The menu is absolutely ginormous, with lots of new and trendy things to try (like it wasn’t hard enough to choose!), and there are some *FAB* options!

🧇🍫💚 Of course we started with a classic waffle, and couldn’t resist trying the Bueno Kunafa Blend- Ooft this was gooooood- such a soft, fluffy waffle but packed with flavour- our first time trying kunafa and it was a solid yum! This was so rich and indulgent, very moreish!
🖼️🍫🍣 Next up was the new Sweet Crepe Sushi. If you know me you know how much I love sushi, so I was giddy with excitement to try this! I thought it was a genuine work of art- but one I was happy to inhale 😉 The fresh strawberries complemented the brownie pieces beautifully, and the ultimate indulgence was the chocolate dipping pot- amazing 🤩
🍓 This Strawberry Eton Mess was absolutely spectacular: meringue, cream, custard, strawberries and sauce- absolutely elite, so sad it’s limited edition so make sure to order this when you go, before it leaves the menu!!
🥤We went for lighter drinks knowing we would struggle eating all the above; a Raspberry Lemonade Cooler and a Mango Dream smoothie- both absolutely gorgeous, perfect to complement the heavy desserts, we would get them both again as we know we always overorder! 🤭

Kaspa's Desserts, you beautiful delight. We left full to the brim and walking on sunshine. Liverpool is glad to have you back, and don’t worry, we have already planned our next choices 😂

Swipe to check out the plentiful menus, cool decor and party room 🎉 as well as our camera roll from our visit- such beauty, such deliciousness 😍

Thank you Kaspas Liverpool for being wonderful and delicious, and patient while we trawled the whole menu 😂🩷🩷

New cocktails at ! 🍹👾

Now in our opinion, is always a slay- great music, hectic gaming competitions, killer drinks and the nicest staff, but what better excuse for a visit than a new cocktail menu? We’d be absolutely nuts to resist. As always the cocktails look magnificent, and they taste divine: we love the thought that goes into them and it absolutely adds to the fun! Top marks all round 👏🏻

We went for (pictured left to right):
🐲 Blue Eyes White Dragon
🖌️ Paintress
🦠 T-Virus
🦅 Falcon Kick [mocktail]
🏴‍☠️ Sea Shanty
🩷 Kirby’s Dreamland
🍔 Overcooked
🐉 Red Eyes Black Dragon [mocktail]

Of course there’s no promises that drinking these will add to your gaming prowess, but we definitely feel like they do! My favourite of these was the Blue Eyes White Dragon (I mean… it’s blue and sparkly, it’s already 😍 and then the added bonus being it tastes glorious), and from a design point of view, the T-Virus- because yes that QR code actually works and goes to Pixel’s insta… genius.

If you’ve not been to Pixel Bar yet… what are you doing?? Go try it. If you have… tell me your favourite cocktail…or game!🤔🎮🍹

is bringing some of that ✨Las Vegas energy ✨ to Liverpool.

Think opulent interiors, flowing drinks for all sorts of celebrations, and curated areas depending on your needs: upstairs you will find games like pool, shuffleboard and tech darts, leading out onto ‘The Deck’- which overlooks Concert Square, and is sure to be well sought after. Downstairs is a high energy space which will host live sports viewings, DJs and group celebrations, and tucked underneath will be a late night club. There’s even a velvet curtain to pull back into a photo booth like no other!

We can’t wait to see their signature cocktails and vibey nightlife! Opening at 4pm tomorrow!

After watching the packet noodles episode from the Secrets of a Chinese Supermarket series from aka & (definitely check this series out), I’ve been wanting to get my hands on some curry Demae Ramen for Ste, the most obsessed Katsu Curry man in the land. So while Liverpool is experiencing the most unearthly amount of rain, I popped into and picked up this little lot (who can buy just one thing in a food haven like ejoy!?)

Special shoutout to the most impulsive of my buys, the shrimp flakes, which may contain cr*ck cos they’re effing delicious and I’ve almost demolished them in about 2 minutes. Plus, they’re covered in otters!!! 🦦😍 Utterly worth my soaked shoes. 10/10

Will update on the ramen when we’ve eaten them 🤩

We recently thoroughly enjoyed a lovely meal at .bar.restaurant, located at the top end of Smithdown Road (opposite Spitroast)

This vibrant Mediterranean restaurant and bar is family run, and the quality of the food was excellent!

🍹🍸We love a cocktail with dinner, and our S*x on the Beach and Mohito were genuinely delicious- we would pop in here for a cocktail any day!

🧆 For starters we shared hummus and tzatziki (both generous servings, beautifully presented, and perfectly paired with fluffy Turkish bread- absolutely wonderful; as well as Chicken Meatballs and Spicy Potato Spring Rolls, which did have a bit of a kick but were pretty tasty too! This was ample for the 4 of us, and had us eager for our mains!

🐟🍚 For my main I chose the pan fried Sea Bass- flaky and flavoursome, with so much flavour, and served with the yummiest garlicky golden potatoes, I thought this was a really well presented and an all round fantastic dish. Ste got the Mixed Shish kebab, the meats were tender and well cooked, and he really enjoyed both the lamb and chicken- a great choice if you want the best of both worlds! The Adana Kebab and Lamb Chops were equally well presented and flavoursome, and these dishes all had fluffy rice, salad and a tortilla accompaniment- we all left with full and happy bellies and you can’t ask for more than that really can you!

Definitely an asset to Smithdown Road and one to try if you like to support local, as well as wanting wholesome and delicious food.

Thank you so much to .bar.restaurant and for inviting us in, as ever we always write honest reviews and are extra pleased when it’s so easy- because this place is fab! Check out their page for valentine/galentines offers too 💕

Does .intheskyliverpool have the best Christmas menu of the year? 🎄

🛷 With a festive chicken, brie and cranberry toastie served with mini Yorkshire puddings, lashings of gravy and presented on a SLEIGH!? I think we have a strong contender! 🤩
☕️ Rapidly followed by this stunning candy cane latte and a s’mores hot chocolate, Lucy’s is smashing it right out of the park, because of course the theming is absolutely on point, and we’re surrounded by Christmas trees, nutcrackers and a Home Alone homage in the window. I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again- they go all out with their theming and it is absolutely incredible here!!

Although we are fully here for the spectacular seasonal offerings, don’t be fooled, the regular menu holds magic too- check out this 🥯 Brekky Bagel, starting with a folded omelette and topped with sausage, golden hash browns and melted cheese: this had us in a choke hold too 🤤

Lucy In The Sky is clearly a perfectly instagrammable venue (they even have a gorgeous selfie bathroom moment ready for you), but more importantly, they offer *delicious* high quality food and drink- just with extra pretty seasonal highlights- and you have to love that. Don’t just take our word for it though, we would thoroughly recommend going down for yourself to try it- you have a few more days to catch this 10/10 Mariah worthy Christmas menu!

Thank you everyone at Lucy’s for always making us feel the most welcome, and stunning us with your beautiful and extremely yummy dishes!! 🥰

For one of the most incredible dining experiences, where each bites transports you to new realms of deliciousness, you *need* to visit newly opened Chin-Zano. This modern Italian restaurant belongs to Livia Alarcon, and promises to be popular with those who love exceptional food. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of town, trust me when I say it’s worth the trip!

The primi piatto were bites from heaven: the carbonara croquette was perfectly crisp, served with parmesan custard and fig jam, the sweet to complement the savoury carbonara- exquisite. Only slightly surpassed (in our opinion) by the stracciatella & caviar maritozzi- light and just perfect in every way, simply delectable, my lord these set my expectations of the secondi sky high!

We chose the veal & beef meatballs- technically a contorni, but actually an enormous portion, and, as I am seafood obsessed, it was impossible to resist the lobster, prawn and chive stuffed ravioli in a lobster & cognac bisque. My goodness- the food here is exceptional in every way. The ravioli itself was sensational, such delicious pasta, and the flavours of the luxurious bisque and filling were phenomenal. My first time trying veal, I thought it added a depth to the meatballs that I’ve not had before, and these were certainly the prettiest meatballs I’ve ever had too!

Everything I tried was completely outstanding. I have run out of suitable adjectives, but urge you to treat yourself to a visit to this amazing restaurant to see for yourself!

Housed under railway arches on Love Lane, .zanolpl itself is surprisingly spacious with gorgeous high ceilings, with a huge open kitchen, which we absolutely love. It was nice to hear the chefs chatting away while they worked on dishes, and certainly with at the helm we know this place will continue to impress as it evolves. Prepare for more visits from us here- we need to try the pizzettes for sure, and the dolce we simply couldn’t squeeze in on this visit. What a wonderful place ♥️

📍Chin-Zano, 19 Love Lane

Thank you so much Livia and Chin-Zano for having us!
