On this day in 1969, John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band began recording 'Give Peace a Chance'.

On display at Strawberry Field is a rare vinyl acetate of 'Give Peace a Chance' and 'Remember Love' that was gifted to The Salvation Army by Yoko Ono and Sean Ono Lennon. The acetate sits in our exhibition as a symbol of peace and love, and helps us raise funds for our Steps at Strawberry Field programmes.

Book your visit to see the rare vinyl acetate at strawberryfieldliverpool.com

Throughout May, we left the grass bank behind our carpark to grow wild for the benefit of butterflies, bugs birds and bees.

By letting the grass grow long, we have encouraged the growth of native wildflowers such as daisies, dandelions and buttercups. These flowers are not only beautiful but also essential nectar sources for pollinators.

With pollinators in steep decline across the UK, actions like No Mow May are so important in creating habitats and reversing the loss of wildflower-rich spaces.

7 places to visit from Paul McCartney childhood 🐦‍⬛

Paul McCartney's album The Boys of Dungeon Lane is deeply personal journey into the past and a record steeped in nostalgia.

At Strawberry Field we have long encouraged visitors to walk in the footsteps of John Lennon and discover the village he grew up in. But McCartney's new release feels like the perfect moment to shine a light on the other half of that legendary songwriting partnership and explore the Liverpool that shaped Paul.

20 Forthlin Road - Paul's childhood home.
Penny Lane - The place that inspired the song.
Oglet Shore - One of Paul's birdwatching spots.
Dungeon Lane - His new album's namesake.
LIPA - Previously Liverpool Institute High School for Boys, where Paul went to school.
Hale Head Lighthouse - Another birdwatching spot featured in the lyric video for The Days We Left Behind.
Penny Lane Church - Where Paul sang in the choir as a boy.

On this day in 1971, John Lennon began recording his iconic peace anthem, ‘Imagine’.

We are honoured to have the very piano upon which John Lennon composed and recorded 'Imagine' in our visitor exhibition at Strawberry Field.

The upright Steinway Z piano was purchased by the late George Michael on 18th October 2000, who toured the piano around the world as a symbol of peace. It was always his intention that the piano should be displayed in Lennon's home city.

It's with thanks to George Michael's estate that we are able to display John Lennon's 'Imagine' piano at Strawberry Field.
