📌Very Special Announcement📌
I want to be transparent about something.
Streaming platforms have made music more accessible than ever, but they’ve also made it harder for artists to sustain themselves. The payout per stream is extremely low, which means even full albums and thousands of listens often don’t translate into meaningful income for the people creating the music.
After releasing a large volume of work, it became clear to me that this model doesn’t support the level of creativity and consistency I’m committed to.
I’ve put a lot of music into streaming platforms, especially Spotify—and the truth is, the return doesn’t match the work.
You can spend months creating an album, release it, and the payout ends up being fractions of a cent per stream. That’s not a sustainable model for independent artists trying to create consistently and at a high level.
At a certain point I had to ask myself:
If I can release full albums, generate streams, and still not be properly compensated… who is the system really working for?
Platforms like Spotify have built massive businesses off the culture, but the artists creating that culture are often paid the least.
That’s not a complaint—it’s a realization.
And once you see it clearly, you have to move differently.
So instead of feeding a system that undervalues the music, I’m choosing to build something more direct—where the music actually reaches and is supported by the people who truly value it.
Stay tuned. I’ll be announcing a new direct-to-supporter model soon.
— REKS. If I shift the way I release music will you support me on this journey?
