Thank you to Everton in the Community for delivering some Starting Well Dads Boxes to our maternity ward 💙

Designed to support new fathers, these boxes promote the vital role dads play in early development - encouraging bonding time, boosting confidence, and helping dads support both baby and mum.

A brilliant initiative making a real difference to families from day one.

If you are a survivor of sexual abuse or violence you can show your card when you feel ready. It’s a gentle way to ask for care adjustments—like slower pacing, extra reassurance, or a chaperone.

Pick up a card in Gynaecology Outpatients reception or speak to a member of the team who are trauma aware and will be able to help you.

“I have found the cards really helpful and almost like a security blanket. I have found myself being able to express my needs safe in the knowledge that I have the card to help if I struggle. It has almost empowered me really. This is a fantastic project and very much needed.” – Andrea

Today is World Hand Hygiene Day ✋

Cleaning our hands helps to stop germs from spreading and protects patients, babies, visitors, and staff.

Cleaning hands at the right times keeps everyone safe. Many hospital infections can be prevented with good hand hygiene and infection prevention.

Please clean your hands when you enter and leave ward areas using the hand gel dispensers.

Everyone has a role in preventing infection.

These simple, discreet cards empower patients who have experienced sexual trauma to share their needs and boundaries during healthcare appointments, helping staff to provide care that is supportive and respectful of the patients previous lived experience.

Visitors to Delivery Suite and Maternity Base

We are so grateful to everyone who visits our Maternity Unit for helping us create a calm, welcoming and secure space for our mums, dads and babies ❤️

To help keep our Delivery Suite and Maternity Base as safe as possible, we kindly ask that visitors and staff:

✅Do not hold the door open for anyone else to come through. Although this may feel polite, it may pose a risk to some of our families and staff.

✅It is important that each visitor is buzzed in by the ward staff so we know exactly who is on the ward at any time.

✅If you are ever unsure, or if someone does slip through, please speak to a member of the team, we are always here to help.

These small steps go a long way in helping us protect all the families in our care, and we really appreciate your support and understanding.

Many people going through fertility treatment rely on donor eggs or s***m – by becoming a donor you could help someone to achieve their dream of starting a family.
