We took a trip down memory lane ๐ฅน Looking back through the Northern PoWEr Women Awards archives, itโs incredible to see how much has changed.
Not just the stories being told or the issues being discussed but the wider conversation around equality, diversity and inclusion ๐ช
๏ปฟand those changes are still happening!
๏ปฟ๏ปฟ ๏ปฟ๐In 2026, the Government introduced voluntary menopause action plans for employers with 250 or more employees, these plans are expected to become mandatory from spring 2027.
๐ From April 2027, the Government plans to introduce a new statutory right to up to two weeksโ unpaid leave for women and their partners experiencing pregnancy loss before 24 weeks.
๐ From October 2026, employers will have a strengthened legal duty to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of their employees. This builds on the existing duty for employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment.
None of these changes happened overnight. They are the result of conversations, campaigning, people sharing their experiences and organisations being willing to challenge.
And thatโs why spaces like the Northern PoWEr Women Awards have always matteredโก
Hereโs to the people who have helped move the dial and to those continuing to push it forward ๐๐
