🚧 Queens Drive road works update 🚧

Preventative treatment works on Queens Drive, between Childwall Fiveways and Walton Hall Avenue are due to be completed tomorrow.

This section of the road will then fully reopen to all traffic.

From Monday 17 August, overnight works will be taking place, resulting in a closure on Queens Drive between Aigburth Drive and Dovedale Road for approximately two weeks.

These are to allow for full resurfacing works to take place.

Overnight works ensure that the work can be completed safely while avoiding the significant disruption that daytime road closures would cause to residents, businesses, commuters, and public transport users. Every effort will be made to minimise disruption for residents living nearby, with the noisiest work taking place as early as possible in the evening, and machinery will be switched off when not in use.

Have you heard of Fern Grove Community Garden? 🌻

Based in L8, the garden is funded by the Council through its Local Neighbourhood Fund. It's used by more than 20 families as a space for growing a variety of plants, as well as a play space for young people.

It started back in 2013 and has been opening up to the public via the National Garden Scheme for the last 12 years. The group were even awarded an engraved trowel as thanks from the national charity.

Now, it's opening for the public once again this Sunday. There'll be plenty of activities taking place, including craft activities hosted by the Liverpool Tool Library, a BBQ and plant sale.

It's one of three gardens opening on the day, joining North Sudley Road and Croxteth Grove.

📍 Fern Grove Community Garden, L8
🕐 Sunday 16 August, 1-5pm
🌷 Entry for L8 residents is FREE, combined entry for all three gardens is just £5.

The National Garden Scheme gives visitors access to over 3,500 private gardens, and raises money for nursing and health charities through admissions, teas and cake.

🌒 Looking up at the eclipse?

Today, Liverpool will be able to see a partial solar eclipse, scheduled for around 7.10pm.

It’s a rare and exciting event to see, but looking directly at the Sun can cause permanent damage to your eyesight – even during an eclipse.

☀️ If you’re planning to watch:
👓 Use proper solar viewing glasses or a safe solar viewer
🚫 Never look directly at the Sun through sunglasses, cameras, binoculars or telescopes
👨‍👩‍👧 Keep children safe and make sure they know not to look directly at the Sun
