You said, we did! 🗨️

Earlier this year, we asked you for your thoughts on a proposed active travel route between the city centre and Childwall. Nearly 500 of you shared your thoughts and we heard you loud and clear.

We've made changes to our proposals based on all the feedback we received, including a pledge to protect trees around the Childwall Triangle and the introduction of more pedestrian crossing points.

Thank you to everyone who had their say.

For hundreds of years, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool has been part of city life.

The role dates back to the city's first charter in 1207, and today the aim is still the same: to serve the public and show pride in Liverpool's communities.

🗓️ In Cllr William Shortall's latest Lord Mayor's Diary:

♥️ A moving service at the unveiling of the new Heysel memorial at Anfield
🥳 Opening the fabulous Joseph Lappin Centre Festival in Everton
🎼 Visiting the Pagoda Arts Centre to experience the richness of its music, culture and community offer

The academic year is drawing to a close, which means the Leave Liverpool Tidy campaign is back! 🧹

University students ready to move out of their accommodation can get rid of their unwanted items with ease, while supporting important charities.

Following last year’s successful pilot, the dedicated recycling container will return to Wavertree, as well as additional Guild of Students drop‑off points at Asda on Smithdown Road and Kenny Fields.

And this year, to support those with bulky items or limited transport, we've introduced a new collection service, similar to our bulky item waste collections.

⚠️ Important notice: Fields of Eire Irish Music Festival

Liverpool City Council is advising people who are due to attend the Fields of Eire Irish Music Festival on 5 and 6 June 2026, that the event will not take place in Newsham Park as advertised.

Following extensive consideration with Safety Advisory Group (SAG) partners - including Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, and North West Ambulance Service - Liverpool City Council, as the landowner of Newsham Park, is unable to issue a Land Use Agreement for the proposed event.

The Council and SAG partners have had lengthy discussions with the event organiser, offering support and guidance to ensure that the event could go ahead safely and successfully, but unfortunately concerns raised have not been sufficiently addressed.

Liverpool has always stood up for fairness, dignity and equality.

MP Kim Johnson reflects on why our city’s anti‑racism commitment matters, and why challenging racism in all its forms is essential to building a Liverpool where everyone feels safe, respected and able to belong.

This is our city. This is our commitment.
