A successful weekend of training for four company ended on a high note, with cadets earning well-deserved promotions in recognition of their hard work, dedication, discipline and commitment.

The weekend provided an excellent opportunity to develop their skills, teamwork and leadership, while celebrating the achievements and progress of the cadets.

Congratulations to all those promoted. Your achievements reflect your determination. Well done to everyone involved in making the weekend a success

Today, we want to take a moment to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our amazing adult volunteers! 👏

Your time, dedication, commitment and enthusiasm make such a difference to our cadets. From supporting training nights and activities to organising events, sharing your skills and offering encouragement, everything you do helps our cadets grow in confidence, develop new skills and reach their full potential.

Commandant Col. Ennis had the pleasure of promoting LT to CPT Gardener, SSI to SMI O'Brien. SMI Maclean and SI Fry were awarded a certificate of appreciation and finally Captain Oates was presented with her Army Cadet Force commissioning scroll.

A fantastic start for Merseyside Army Cadets Pipes and Drums!

Today we held a very successful enrolment day for cadets and prospective Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) at our new Altcar detachment. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of those keen to learn an instrument and those ready to share their musical skills with the next generation.

Colonel Ennis said “As Commandant, I am proud to see this new opportunity taking shape. Learning the pipes and drums offers our cadets the chance to develop confidence, build friendships and experience the pride of performing together.”

Thank you to everyone who attended and to the team who helped make the day such a success. This is just the beginning!

Operation Bridging Futures 2026 🏆

As part of National Cadet Week, cadets from across 3 Company took part in our Company Competition, 'Operation Bridging Futures'. It was hosted by 75 Engineer Regiment whom we have developed a fantastic partnership with.

The day came just a week after our Company Weekend, so a huge well done to every Detachment who took part. Our cadets represented 3 Company with real pride, and earned praise from 75 Engineers that opens the door to more opportunities to work together.

Thank you to Sergeant Catherine Salisbury, who led the reserve team on the day and helped design the competition.

🥇 1st place: Heswall
🥈 2nd place: Wallasey
🥉 3rd place: Mixed Team

A special mention goes to our Mixed Team. Coming together as a brand new team on the day is no easy task, and their resilience and teamwork shone through.

Operation Bridging Futures will now be an annual competition, and we’re proud to have built the foundations of it together with 75 Engineers. Our partnership with the reserves is vital, and this is an exciting step into the next phase of our community engagement.

We were proud today to attend Liverpool Cathedral for the Service of Dedication and Thanksgiving marking the beginning of the Legal Year, with a selection of cadets from Merseyside Army Cadets.

Our cadets joined other cadet units to line the procession, representing their organisations with pride and professionalism. Col Paul Ennis our Commandant said “it is always a pleasure to see our young people playing their part in the life of our community.

A particularly proud moment was seeing our very own Cadet Sergeant Alistair Burgess attending his first event as one of the Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for the next twelve months. Congratulations, Alistair—a wonderful honour and an opportunity to represent Merseyside ACF throughout the year ahead. We all wish you every success”.

Skills for life…

I was a cadet and now I work in student recruitment and higher education supporting students in school and college settings every day.

Caitlin Mcellenborough joined Netherton detachment in 2011 and finished her cadet career in 2016 as Cdt CSM.

Caitlin has nothing but good memories from her time as a cadet.

“Being a cadet gave me one of the strongest foundations I could have asked for going into Adulthood.
I credit many of the key skills I have today to my time in cadets. Being a cadet taught me to be brave, gave me self belief and gave me the confidence to step outside of my comfort zone. I genuinely believe my time as a cadet played a huge part in shaping the person I am today”
