“To Inspire to Achieve”

The Army Cadet Force is a national voluntary youth organization. It is sponsored by the Army and provides challenging military, adventurous and community activities. Its aim is to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of service to the King, their Country and their local community, and to develop in them the qualities of a good citizen.

NEW DETACHMENT LOCATION!

Our Southport detachment officially have a new home 🫶🏼

The detachment has moved into the excellent facility of Greenbank High School, a move made possible through the leadership of Ms D Aspinall and the incredible support of executive headteacher Mr Ian Raikes.

During Last Thursdays open evening our cadets undertook a full familiarisation of the site guided by two former Greenbank students CDT Sgt Harris and CDT LCpl Davis.

This new location provides a solid and well positioned base for the detachment and gives us the opportunity of stability and growth going forward. Our partnership with Greenbank high school is one we hope will thrive for many years to come 💚

The detachment is now welcoming new cadets aged 12-17. Parade nights take place every Monday and Thursday 1900hrs - 2100Hrs
Why not pop down and see what the Army Cadets can offer you! 🙌🏼

This morning at Altcar Training Camp 8 of our cadets passed out from the week long Senior Cadet Instructor Cadre and 3 of our adult volunteer’s passed out from the week long Adult Basic Instructor Cadre Assessment.

Our Commandant, Colonel Paul Ennis said; “moments like these truly reinforce why I feel so proud to be part of this organisation. Our Adult Volunteers continue to give their time, energy, and commitment to developing young people often behind the scenes, but always making a lasting impact.

What continues to inspire me most, however, are the cadets themselves. Their enthusiasm, attention to detail, and commitment to high standards are remarkable. They embody strong values, a real desire to improve, and just as importantly the ability to enjoy themselves while working as part of a team.

I’d also like to extend my sincere thanks to the staff at Altcar Training Camp, the RFCA, the Army Cadet Training Team, and all the course CFAV instructors. Without their dedication and support, opportunities like these simply wouldn’t be possible.

Days like today are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through dedication, leadership, and teamwork”.

Amazing work everyone well done 👏

In partnership with ACCT UK, Quick Mortgages have created a free financial advice guide for cadets, enabling any cadet to become confident in their spending, saving, and investing habits. Business Development Manager, Henry Wright, emphasises the importance of ensuring young people have access to information that will help them make informed financial choices.

“As proud Armed Forces Covenant signatories, we wanted to extend our support to the wider Armed Forces community. We also believe it’s important that young people have the opportunity to learn the basics of finance early on, so if we can play a small part in helping cadets better understand their financial future, we’re delighted to support the initiative.”

Such amazing achievement, we are very proud of Steve! 🫡

In 2025, Merseyside Army Cadet Force's Steve O'Connor completed 'Ultra X Nevada', a brutal 220km 5-day endurance race across one of the toughest desert landscapes on Earth.

Looking to challenge himself a little closer to home in 2026, Steve will begin his next test of endurance on behalf of ACCT UK... A 48-marathon challenge spanning 24 months! Steve plans to average 2 marathons a month; one for each of England's 48 ceremonial counties.

“This isn’t just about distance." Steve explains, "It’s about exploring England properly… its highest natural ground, its landscapes, and its communities… and doing something physically meaningful to raise money for a charity that develops resilience and leadership in young people.”

We are delighted and so proud of the Merseyside ACF team at the Merlin Manoeuvre Army Cadet Competition.

The team delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 2nd Overall against strong competition and achieving 1st place finishes on several stands during the event. The cadets showed real determination, teamwork and professionalism throughout and represented Merseyside ACF brilliantly.

A special mention to the CFAVs and CTT staff — without their commitment and support, events like this simply would not happen.

Our Commandant Colonel Ennis said: ‘ I am so very proud of everyone involved, and well done to all the teams who took part in a fantastic competition’.
