Sefton Council for Voluntary Service - CVS Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) supports voluntary, community and faith activity in Sefton We work with all sections of the VCF sector in Sefton.

Sefton CVS is an infrastructure body providing a comprehensive range of support and development services to frontline VCF groups. CVS promotes and advocates the active engagement of the VCF sector by facilitating networks, providing commentary and participation in national regional and local policy, and acting as the conduit between the sector and statutory partners and other public organisations.

CVS also has a development function in identifying needs and gaps working with the sector and other partners to develop solutions and services to meet them. CVS promotes citizen engagement and, through its Volunteer Centre, provides recruitment and brokerage services for local groups and people wishing to participate in community life. CVS works with over 1200 local VCF organisations and further information about our impact and services can be found on our website. Strategic Sustainability Objectives

The CVS identifies six sustainability objectives to focus and drive the development of its service provision:

Capability - Provide services that promote continuous quality improvement, build resilience and improve sustainability

Communication - Keep the sector and stakeholders informed

Collaboration - Work with our sector partners and other stakeholders

Consultation - Create opportunities to voice an opinion and influence policy

Cohesion - Build social capital through economic and social inclusion

Creative solutions - Transform innovative ideas into practical solutions


Sefton CVS is a registered charity (No. 102546) constituted as a company limited by guarantee without share capital registered in England and Wales (Number 2832920) originally founded in 1974. We are governed by a Board of Trustees who are nominated and elected by our members. Sefton CVS is a member of:

NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations)

ACEVO (Association of Chief Executives)

We are in membership with other national organisations as we believe it is important to share information, disseminate good practice and influence decision-making that affects our sector.

Today we hosted our first Southport Youth Work Community of Practice network event in partnership with at Southport Football Club. 

Southport Voluntary Sector organisations attended the event, hearing presentations including; more on the NYA National Youth Strategy, the draft Youth Offer Outcomes Framework for Sefton, Youth Focus North West’s training offer and Sefton Council’s HAF programme next steps. Attendees also took part in a workshop to capture insights into the networks next steps.

Salary: £26,484 per annum �Hours: 35 hours per week

ℹ️ Our Hospital Discharge Service, provide free, practical, common-sense support for up to six weeks for Sefton residents following discharge from a hospital setting or treatment from any other health establishment.

Did you know that if you are registered with a Southport or Formby GP practice then you have access to the support from a Social Prescribing Link Worker?
Our Link Workers will spend time getting to find out what matters to you and help you identify some goals to support your non-medical health and well-being. We can then link you to the right groups and services to help you achieve your goals.
