🎉 Happy 1st Anniversary to St Mark’s Community Garden! 🌿💚
What an incredible first year it has been!
Over the past 12 months, 77 different people have joined us on Monday mornings to help transform an unused space into a thriving community garden—a place where people and nature can flourish together, and where everyone is welcome.
Our vision was to create an inclusive space for the whole community to enjoy, and thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our funders and supporters, and the enthusiasm of our local community, that vision has become a reality.
Throughout the year we’ve welcomed more than 300 people to a variety of events and activities, including community BBQs, Bat Night, litter picks with breakfast or lunch, our Easter Bank Holiday celebration, educational events, and opportunities for neighbours to come together, make new friends and enjoy the garden. St Mark’s Church has also been delighted to hold several church services in this beautiful outdoor space.
We’ve also seen the launch of our Craft Club and Board Game Event, creating even more opportunities for people to connect, learn new skills and have fun together.
And the exciting news doesn’t stop there! We’ve recently secured another grant that will enable us to introduce a Repair Café, Tool Library, Community Composting, and Textile Recycling, helping us become an even bigger hub for sustainability, learning and community action.
Looking back, it’s amazing to see just how much has been achieved in just one year. None of it would have been possible without every volunteer, visitor, supporter, funder and friend who has believed in this project and helped it grow.
Here’s to another year of growing together, supporting one another, and creating a greener, stronger community. 🌱
Follow us, share our story, give us a like, and most importantly—come along and join us. Everyone is welcome. 🤗💚
