Meet your Minton Tiles Tour Guide James!

James has been guiding visitors around St George’s Hall for an incredible 18 years. His favourite fact about the Minton Tiles is that a song was written about them being covered for a grand ball in 1857 - a detail that always surprises visitors. His favourite era in history is Modern British history, because he loves understanding how the events of the past have shaped the world we live in today.

And don’t forget, our Minton Tile Experience Opening Day competition closes tomorrow! Two winners will receive individual tickets for the Opening Day on 17 July 2026 - one for the 10:00 tour and one for the 15:00 tour.

Meet your Minton Tiles Tour Guide Sean!

Sean has been a guide at St George’s Hall for four and a half years. His favourite thing about the Minton Tiles is the incredible detail in the design, especially the Scottish and Irish symbolism, which connects to his own family heritage. His favourite era in history is the Victorian period, thanks to its amazing literature and Liverpool’s growth and expansion during that time.

To celebrate the launch of our Minton Tile Reveal this summer, we’re giving away two individual tickets for the Minton Tile Experience Opening Day on 17 July 2026 – one ticket for the 10:00 tour and one ticket for the 15:00 tour.

Bobby West returns to St George’s Hall this summer, he's performing by candlelight, on Liverpool's most iconic floor, the Minton Tiles.

Every Friday during the Minton Tile Reveal, the Great Hall transforms into a glowing, echoing space, built for Bobby's unmistakable voice.

A North Liverpool storyteller with a cinematic sound, Bobby’s set will roll across 30,000 hand‑crafted tiles and fill the room exactly as it was meant to be heard.

Tickets support the preservation of St George’s Hall and the restoration of the Willis Organ.
