✨ Throwback Thursday ✨

A very little us at the Edinburgh Book Festival somewhere around 2014 📚💛

Looking back now, it feels really special knowing how much these moments shaped us.

Meeting Liz Pichon was HUGE for me! I absolutely loved the Tom Gates books (and honestly still do 😄). As a dyslexic child, they felt fun, inviting, and accessible in a way a lot of books didn’t. They made reading feel exciting instead of intimidating, and I think that stayed with me more than I realised at the time 💛

We also met David Roberts, whose illustrations brought so many stories to life for us growing up ✨

And over the years we’ve also been lucky enough to meet Jacqueline Wilson, my all-time favourite author, and genuinely one of the people who inspired me to write 💛 (we’re still hunting for the photo 👀)

As well as Julia Donaldson, whose stories became such a huge part of childhood for so many families, including ours and her stories continue to influence our storytelling, Room on the broom and superworm are two of our favourite books to read with my ASN children at work.

It’s strange sometimes, looking back at the books and authors that quietly shaped who you become.

And now, years later, books are still at the centre of so much of what we do 💛📚

Was it a childhood favourite?
Something you read at school?
A book you still recommend to everyone?

I love reading new books with them at night, as it’s a great way to learn about new worlds, but mostly I love the quiet, snuggling time together.

📚💛 What a wonderful day! 💛📚
Our Summer Story Trail launch was a huge success and we’re so grateful to everyone who came along.
Thankfully the weather stayed dry, and it was fantastic to see so many families joining us to celebrate the launch of The Grinny Granny Donkey trail 🌿📖
A huge thank you to Alana for leading a brilliant Bookbug session. The children had so much fun singing, dancing and joining in... and then we had a very special visitor!
🐞 BOOKBUG came to see us!
There were plenty of cuddles, high fives and excited smiles before we all headed off into the woods to complete the trail together.
Seeing families enjoying the story, exploring the woodland and sharing books and laughter is exactly what Book Box Scotland is all about 💛
Thank you to everyone who came along, supported the event, helped behind the scenes, and made the day so special.
The trail is now officially open and will be running throughout the summer, so if you couldn’t make the launch, there’s still plenty of time to join the adventure! 🌿📚✨
