Are you aged 16 to 30 and have lived experience of disability?

Join us as a Peer Researcher!

ILF Scotland and Social Value Lab are looking for eight young disabled people to join a peer research team exploring experiences of the Transition Fund. Peer Researchers will help shape questions, speak to other young people about their experiences, and help make sense of the data we collect. No previous research experience is needed and full training and support will be provided.

You don’t need to have received a grant from the Transition Fund – or meet its eligibility criteria – to apply and take part.

The role is flexible and designed around people’s needs and other commitments, with most activities able to take place online. You will join us for seven days in total between June and October 2026. Each researcher will receive £180 per day, with travel, access costs, childcare, and other reasonable expenses covered.

To express interest, contact Anna at [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 8th June 2026. You can send a short informal email explaining a little about yourself and why you are interested or get in touch to arrange an informal conversation.

There’s still time to get your tickets to come to our Coming Home Engagement events taking place on Monday and Tuesday next week.

Coming Home funding will see people who have learning disabilities and complex support needs benefit from £20 million of funding, which will provide tailored support close to home, family and friends.

And we want your thoughts on what you’d like to happen.

We’re hosting two drop-in sessions:

▪️ Monday 25 May from 2 pm to 3 pm - aimed at professionals who work with people with learning disabilities and complex needs.

▪️ Tuesday 26 May from 2 pm to 3 pm - aimed at people with learning disabilities and complex care needs, their families and carers.

Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to have ILF to join.

The events will be held online through Teams and are free to attend.

A reminder of a date for your diary:

On Friday 5 June this year, Design and Disability, an exhibition, comes to the V&A Dundee.

Showcasing the radical contributions of Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent people to contemporary design and culture, Design and Disability is both a celebration of Disabled-led design and a call for action, affirming the importance of embedding the experiences and expertise of Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent people in design processes.

Entry is free.

Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day!

We’re committed to providing accessible content.

Disabled people and those with impairments shouldn’t need to take action to content to make it accessible – it should be accessible from the get-go.

We’re always learning but determined to put disabled people first, today and every day.

Some people can’t see images clearly – which is why we use Alt Text (alternative text) on image on our website and social channels.

It just provides a description of your photo or image so that someone who is blind or has a visual impairment can be included in the conversation.

This week it’s Open Government Week.

Open government is a global movement centred around people coming together to explore how the relationship between communities and government can be more open, participatory, inclusive, and accountable.

The Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) are holding an event during the week to explore Scotland’s approach to its fourth Open Government Action Plan.

It’s a free online event, 2 pm to 3 pm Thursday 21 May 2026.

A simple way to make your social media posts more accessible is to use camel Case (or Pascal Case) in your hashtags.

If you hashtag with no capital letters it can just be a big line of text.

Using camel Case, you add a capital letter to each new word in a hashtag. So instead of .

This makes things so much easier to read and helps everyone get involved in your posts.

(It’s called camel Case because it goes up a down like a camel’s humps!)
