๐ŸŽฅ Using the Collective Efficacy summary video with your team.

Our summary video can be a great way to start a focused conversation with colleagues about collective teacher efficacy and what it looks like in your setting.

Before sharing it, watch the video yourself so youโ€™re clear on the key messages and any additional resources you may want to signpost.

Create a safe and respectful space for discussion by agreeing simple ways of working together - such as attentive listening, inclusive language and respectful contributions.

You might use prompts like:
๐Ÿค” What resonated most, and why?
โ“ What does this mean for our practice?
๐Ÿ’ช What conditions already support collective efficacy here? How can we strengthen them?

Encourage the group to identify a few manageable collective actions, and one personal commitment to revisit later.

This week we're continuing our focus on the Curriculum Improvement Cycle for Languages and today it's all about Scots! We have added two guest blogs to our LinkedIn page today focusing on Scots.

๐Ÿ‘‰David Scott is a Primary Teacher at Maisondieu Primary in Angus. In his guest blog he discusses the importance of Scots and the work that's been taking place as part of the Curriculum Improvement Cycle. You can view his article in Scots and English.

"We hope this work will have a significant impact. For teachers, it provides greater clarity by showing that Scots is not something that appears only occasionally, but something that can be planned for, taught and assessed in a structured way. For children, it offers recognition and validation. It demonstrates that the language they hear and use has value, depth and importance."

๐Ÿ‘‰Our second guest blog focusing on Scots today comes from Jamie Fairbairn, Head of Humanities at Banff Academy in Aberdeenshire.

"At Banff Academy, young people choose either Scots or French in S3 and can then continue into a senior phase Scots class. I feel strongly that learners across Scotland should have access to a similar Scots language pathway."

Read in Scots and English as Jamie discusses the importance of Scots and being part of the Curriculum Improvement Cycle for Languages.

"Languages are not an add-on to the curriculum. They are an integral part of it. It's not just about words and understanding vocabulary. There is a lot more to languages in terms of understanding of cultures, people and places."
