While you are staying with us, not too far from the 2 bedroom apartment you will be staying in, is a beautiful spot we often go to and recommend to our guests who stay.
We took a drive around Creggenan lakes, a place I have been visiting since I was a little girl over 40 years ago and it never ceases to amaze me. You cannot only see mountains and lakes, but the estuary and the sea, all the way to Barmouth. We were heading to the beach, so not planned for this particular day, the road was closed ahead so we took a drive up the small lane to arrive at the lakes instead. I have added more information underneath which can be found on Google. What I really want you to take in is the beautiful scenery. You really can have your breath taken away. Photography is widely used in this area. Nothing really does it justice though. We have spent so many different times there, picnics, hikes, star gazing at night. The lake is good for fishing. Walking is highly recommended to get the amazing views. Although the views you see that I took this time were just from standing by the car, so would be suitable for all. Please do not swim in the water, due to some rare species in the water and surrounding land, but enjoy the sights. There is a car park and a public toilet.

Llynnau Cregennen / Cregennan Lakes in southern Snowdonia are owned by the National Trust and are a renowned and often photographed beauty spot. There are tremendous views of the Mawddach Estuary and Barmouth Bridge from near the lake. The lakes are situated on the northern slopes of Cadair ldris, some 800 ft. above sea level, overlooking the beautiful Mawddach Estuary, with car park, just 5 miles from Dolgellau.
You can take a walk around these natural lakes, or head up to Pared y Cefn Hir to enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the mountains and Mawddach Estuary.
The lakes are home to a number of rare species so wild swimming and paddle boarding on the lakes is prohibited.
There is a car park and toilets by the lake. - Grid Reference: SH657143
