Dinefwr is an iconic place in the history of Wales. Two forts are evidence of a dominant Roman presence, through the to the Medieval times when the Princes of Deheubarth held Dinefwr Castle as a seat of power and influence. In the 19th Century George and Cecil Rice created the designed landscape the park displays today, clearly inspire by Capability Brown who visited in 1773. The parkland hosts many walks through Bog Wood, the Medieval Deer Park and alongside the majestic White Park Cattle who have roamed the lands at Dinefwr for over 2,000 years. There are plenty of activities, tours and events held throughout the year. Newton House is not a traditionally “dressed” house, more a hands on atmospheric experience telling the stories of the families that shaped this 800 acre estate. Dinefwr is the first parkland National Nature Reserve in Wales with beautiful woods, lakes and parkland to explore. Dinefwr Castle is owned by the Wildlife Trust and Managed by Cadw. Treftadaeth yr Ail Ryfel Byd wedi'i ddatgelu yn Ninefwr | Second World War heritage revealed at Dinefwr

***
Mae tywydd anarferol o sych wedi datgelu pennod gudd yn hanes Ninefwr, gyda marciau yn y dirwedd yn amlygu olion cytiau Nissen a arferai sefyll o fewn y parc hanesyddol.

Defnyddiwyd y strwythurau hyn yn ystod ac ar ôl yr Ail Ryfel Byd ar gyfer nifer o ddibenion, gan gynnwys fel ysbyty, gwersyll carcharorion rhyfel ac, yn ddiweddarach, fel cartrefi i deuluoedd lleol. Daeth yr anheddiad i gael ei adnabod yn lleol fel "Tin Town", gan helpu i liniaru'r prinder tai yn y cyfnod ar ôl y rhyfel.

Fwy nag 80 mlynedd yn ddiweddarach, mae ôl troed yr adeiladau hyn yn parhau i fod yn weladwy yn y dirwedd.

Er bod llawer o ymwelwyr yn gyfarwydd â pharcdir o bwys cenedlaethol a threftadaeth ganoloesol Ninefwr, mae'r marciau hyn yn taflu goleuni ar bennod llawer mwy diweddar yn hanes y safle, gan gynnig cipolwg ar sut y gwnaeth cymunedau addasu i heriau bywyd yn ystod ac ar ôl y rhyfel yng nghefn gwlad Cymru.

Unusually dry weather has uncovered a hidden chapter of Dinefwr's history, with marks in the landscape revealing the outlines of former Nissen huts that once stood within the historic park.

Used during and after the Second World War, the structures served a variety of roles, including as a hospital, a prisoner of war camp and, later, homes for local families. The settlement became known locally as "Tin Town", helping to address post-war housing shortages.

More than 80 years on, the footprint of these buildings remains visible in the landscape.

While many visitors are familiar with Dinefwr's nationally important parkland and medieval heritage, these marks shine a light on a much more recent chapter in the site's story, offering a glimpse into how communities adapted to the challenges of wartime and post-war life in rural Wales.
