🚧 A470 Llanidloes Bypass Street Lighting Upgrade – Upcoming Works Notice 🚧

Residents and road users are advised that improvement works to upgrade street lighting on the A470 Llanidloes Bypass will be taking place from Monday 15 June 2026 until Friday 17 July 2026.

Traffic Management

To allow the works to be carried out safely, there will be:
🚦 Two-way traffic lights, with three-way traffic lights in some locations
📅 From 15 June 2026 at 08:30 until 17 July 2026 at 17:00 (dates are provisional and may be subject to change)

These restrictions are required to facilitate electrical works, including street lighting and signpost upgrades.

Measures to Minimise Disruption

✔️ Advisory 40mph signs and "Please Drive Carefully" signage along diversion routes
✔️ Manual control of existing traffic signals where required
✔️ Additional speed-activated signs and Variable Message Signs (VMS)
✔️ Ongoing monitoring of diversion routes to identify and address any issues

NEWS: Funding available to strengthen food support and tackle poverty in Powys 🍓🍄‍🟫🍗

Community organisations across Powys are being encouraged to apply for funding to help strengthen food provision, improve access to nutritious meals and tackle poverty.

Powys County Council has launched its Food Aid Small Grant Fund, offering grants of up to £9,000 per project to eligible not-for-profit organisations delivering services to residents.

The fund aims to support a wide range of initiatives that make a real difference, including food banks, community meal schemes, food parcel services, and projects that build longer-term resilience such as food growing and distribution schemes.

Money is available for both revenue costs (up to £4,000) and capital costs (up to £5,000), helping organisations to expand their reach, purchase equipment, and deliver new or enhanced services.

Projects supported through the fund must benefit people living in Powys and demonstrate how they address local need, reduce inequalities and create sustainable, longer-term impact.
